Le Clos de la Commanderie

We stayed at this b&b for two days. Excellent quiet location, as it is a 5 minutes walk to the Clos Lucé, and ＜10 minutes to the center of Amboise. The owner is very friendly and gave us a warm welcome, and some hints for visits, and good lunch/dinner opportunities. He is very knowledgable about history, arts and music (he is an orchestra conductor), and was always present during breakfast time. Talking about the breakfast, the choice is huge and the jams are house-made. The rooms (located under the roof) have been renovated recently (this is a commanderie that was reused by the Germans during WWII, and since then more or less abandoned), have AC and are comfortable. You will find a huge garden, a heated swimming pool, a table tennis table, and some more stuff. Overall, a great address to stay for one or more days at Amboise.

L’accueil par notre hôte Thibaut est tout simplement exceptionnel, à tel point qu’on se sent immédiatement chez soi. Le cadre est très agréable avec une belle piscine, calme et paisible. Notre chambre était spacieuse et très confortable. Enfin quel plaisir d’échanger au petit déjeuner avec notre hôte, véritable érudit en histoire de l’art. Un séjour inoubliable à recommander vivement.
