Southern Sun Bloemfontein

I had a great stay at Southern Sun Bloemfontein! From arrival to departure the staff were friendly & efficient. The room & bathroom were spacious & spotlessly clean. The room service was efficient and food delicious. A lovely stay. Thank you!

It is decent enough for business. The Wifi was not working . What a pity. Next to a mall. The location is good . Not far from the airport . Furniture is dated. The room was clean. Had a problem with a light not working and it was attended to . Staff were friendly. Breakfast reasonably good.

Stayed for two weeks. Great hotel, clean, excellent food, bar, outdoor area and swimming pool. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good location also with connection into shopping centre. Will be returning.

Brilliant Staff, great venue and no apparent load shedding! This is the sixth time I’ve stayed here over the last 20 years. Excellent in all areas and won’t stay anywhere else. Looking forward to visiting next year. Thank you.

As the logistics manager for an international sports team, I've been delighted with my 4th stay at Southern Sun Bloemfontein and am looking forward to a further 3 week visit with our 25-strong team in 2024. The team is comfortable, happy and well rested here and the hotel can accommodate such large groups without overwhelming the facilities or other guests. Excellent and flexible response to any requests from the team - thank you.

As excellent as it was when I was last there in 2017. First class facility with friendly staff, very accommodating and in a good location in easy reach of some good restaurants and attached to the Mimosa Mall, which is good for essentials and has a few reasonable places to eat as well. The pool is well-maintained and very welcome.

An absolutely fantastic stay - the hotel allocated me an accessible room at the front of the hotel as requested (as I have mobility issues) so easy to get to the restaurant. Breakfast was amazing - lots of choice and lots of it. The housekeeping staff were excellent - wish I could make beds like that! All the staff were smiling and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The staff even provided an extra desk so I could work more easily. There was a tree outside our room which was full of birds in the morning and late afternoon with a couple of resident Hadedas keeping the grass free of worms. Only thing which would help in an accessible room would be textured tiles on the bathroom floor as it could be slippy when wet - not a problem but maybe worth looking into next time the room is decorated. Definitely the best hotel in Bloemfontein and we will be back (next years stay already booked!) Please can we have the same room as it was so good! Thank you to everyone at the hotel for a brilliant time.

Starting with rooms not being ready at 14:00 which is check-in time, no refreshments offered while you wait. No mini-bar fridge in the room, apparently they don't have enough for each room to have one, so you must improvise with an ice bucket. Only 1 bottle of 300ml still water provided per day. Day 2, housekeeping didn't replace the used hand towels...still no fridge available. Day 3, by 13:20 the room had not been cleaned by housekeeping...still no fridge, reported all issues to duty manager in order for hotel to redeem itself. Day 4, by 12:56 the room had not been cleaned by housekeeping, and informed same manager...by 14:57 housekeeping still did not bring fresh towels and maintenance walked past my room to move a fridge to another room - alas I only get an ice bucket again. Never has Southern Sun ever let me down this much. The only redemption is their chefs and evening waiting staff. If I wasn't booked to stay here by my employer for work, I would have demanded a refund and checked into another hotel.

The hotel has great infrastructure. Nice pool and lovely garden settings with direct access to the garden if your room is located on the ground floor. Some recommended improvements would be add two point plugs and USB ports to charge devices. Breakfast was average but was good enough for the family. Overall great stay for one night. Tip: try and book room on the ground floor
