The owner contacted us early, on arrival day to ensure we know where the premises is and how to gain access. In my opinion this was amazing as I always find that I have to contact accommodations to confirm and ask questions- at Finch & Fern this was not needed as the owner is so productive and made contact first. To say I was impressed with the service, communication and accommodation is an understatement. Thank you owners of Finch & Fern Guesthouse, you made our trip easier. "

"Never book with Agoda travel Agents NEVER. We booked at this guesthouse while traveling thru Agoda, the guesthouse replied immediatly that they are fully booked, Agoda ignored the email, and still debit the amount from bank card, we arrived just to find out they fully booked, we were stranded and had to drive in the middle of the night to our next destination. Since the 28 of March 2026 we try to get a refund from Agoda with no luck. I went on facebook and there are litteraly 100 and 100 of people that lost money to Agoda due to this bad service. So please dont make the same mistake and loose money to Agoda scammers. Booking never took place because fulle booked, but i paid for it. Invoice attached"

"We were there for a weekend. This is not the Hilton but the beds were great and the rooms were clean. The manageress ( forgive me for forgetting her name. She was so tall she had different weather than us) but she was brilliant. She sorted us out. We had torrential rain. They just kept at it. They ran a bar for us and the kids were fantastic. Jambo ( I think he was having me on) and Abby were top notch. ( I remember their names because they served us a lot . Great place brilliant staff and all round 5 star 3 star resort ."

Location very good for CBD and SCA. Reasonably priced. R1800 per night per room, breakfast an extra R215 pp."

"The accommodation was appalling with towel rails that fell off the wall, doors that did not fit the frame and curtains and blinds which promptly fell off the wall when you attempted to close them. Blankets were provided but they have the addition of baby cockroaches. While the breakfast was sort of adequate there was a distinct lack of cutlery and if you wanted a teaspoon,dessert spoon or fork you had to ask for an individual one which was somewhat annoying when you were in a group of 82 people. Feel a bit bad saying this because the staff were pleasant and clearly doing their best in what must be a very miserable working environment"

"The guest house itself was comfortable, clean, and well located to Grey College, where we had sport/culture on. A special mention to Juan, who assisted us fantastically throughout our stay — his service and friendliness were truly appreciated. There were, however, a few disappointments. The electric blankets on the beds had cables that were too short to comfortably reach the wall plugs. This meant that while our upper bodies stayed warm, our feet were ice cold during the night, which made sleeping uncomfortable. The biggest disappointment was breakfast on our last morning. Breakfast service starts at 7:00, and when we arrived at 7:15 before leaving for the airport, we were informed that one of the staff members responsible for preparing breakfast had not arrived. We had already paid for breakfast in advance, yet were told that no breakfast would be available. There were cereals and muffins available, but considering the amount paid for breakfast, this was not what we expected. Unfortunately, we had to leave for the airport hungry. Despite this, we still appreciated the hospitality and especially Juan’s excellent service. With a bit more attention to these details, the experience could have been outstanding."

"I spent a night at this hotel with some family. I have mixed feelings about it. The rooms were clean and good, with a nice bathroom. The interior of the hotel is pretty. The rooftop bar and dining room are good settings. However, my dissatisfaction arose during the meals. The drinks took a while to arrive once we ordered even though the place wasn’t busy. This was confusing since the drinks we ordered wouldn’t take a long time to prepare (e.g. a can of soft drink or a beer). During the meals, we found that we couldn’t order certain things on the menu because the kitchen didn’t have enough stock of it left. We only found this out after ordering and had to take another look at the menu."
