Hotel Best Alcazar

The hotel is great- we had a really good week. One of our party has a gluten intolerance and the hotel could not do enough for us and provided plenty of food and snacks. On the whole we found the staff to be happy and helpful, the rooms were clean and spacious, there was plenty of room at the different pools, even when people put their towels out early. Towels can be hired from the spa for use round the pool, so you dont need to bring towels with you. They can be changed daily. The food was lovely and varied, with food themed nights. Sometimes some of the food wasn't piping hot, but that's to be expected in a buffet dining room catering for that amount of people! The drinks were all branded even the alcohol and included cocktails. We quickly realised this is a hotel where the Spanish holiday, and as such the evening entertainment was all in spanish- maybe it's different during busier seasons. A few things we felt could be tweaked- not necessarily criticism- there is no kettle in the rooms- we British love a tea! However there was a hob and saucepan so we made do. In the dining room, the coffee machines are available at breakfast, but tea bags are put away in a cupboard, so you have to get the attention of the very busy staff and ask for some. - why can't they be left out? And there is no tea or coffee available during lunch or dinner. The staff in the dining rooms are very busy and drinks are table service only so sometimes there is a long wait for drinks. We may well come back again as this hotel fit our needs.

*Read until the end* This is my own opinion of an expierience I had at the hotel. I’ve been coming to Marina Del Este for 5 years. It is really a beautiful place. I have dined and relaxed in most of the restaurants at the Marina and in La Herradura during the past 5 years. I always stay at Las Lomas. This is about 5 minutes walk to the Hotel. The hotel looks lovely and is always busy and bustling with people. My wife enjoys stopping there for a coffee sometimes on her morning walk. We visited the hotel this August with another family. None of us were staying there. We had been at La Herradura with the kids (4 adults and 5 kids) and following a discussion about dinner, we decided to walk up and visit the hotel. My wife had made an earlier enquiry with the Hotel reception to check if non guests could eat and that was fine. We walked into the hotel at about 10pm. We went to the bar area by mistake and then we were re directed to the restaurant downstairs. On arrival at the restaurant, I spoke to a person and asked them if we could eat. They went off to check. He returned, he seemed to be in charge wearing a black waistcoat, which was different to the rest of the serving staff. He was nice and smiling and friendly. So we approached the till and the girl at the till immediately questioned him as to the time. He told her not to worry, that there was time. She told me it was €22 per adult and €11 per child and it was a buffet service. I firmed up with my wife and the other family about the price and I was required to pay the bill in advance, which I did. She told me that the waiter would mark my receipt with the drinks we had during dinner and we could pay on the way out. We were told the buffet finished at 11pm. I paid up front at 10:12pm and then went to a table. It took a couple of minutes before a waiter prepared the table and we sat down and ordered a drink ( 2 white wines, 2 beers and two bottles of still water ). The following I will make in bullet points. - at 10:15 the food started to move away from the counters. It was very confusing. - The kids all took pizza from the grill area. It was raw with grated cheese unmelted in the middle and melted on top? It was not room temperature in the middle, but it was fridge temperature. - I took cold beef noodles and a wrap. I found cold fish at the hot buffet to put in the wrap. - At this point all of the food was moving to a table in the middle of the room, there were only a few people left. Waiters were spraying and cleaning and taking food away. This started at 10:15pm - I grabbed the three last burgers for the kids but there was no cheese for the filling. I asked for some and the chef said there was none left. I am fluent in Spanish so I was conversing in Spanish. Hotel was very clean and nice.Plenty of sun beds with no subbed wars which was great. The food in the restaurant was very good with friendly staff. The hotel was aimed at the Spanish tourists so it was hard to communicate with some of the staff as they couldn’t speak English. The self catering apar**ents were nice but the kitchen was way to basic, also there was hardly any drying facilities on the balcony which was a challenge. Otherwise nice for a couple of days stay.

Best staff ever bar manager bar staff jaun and alveras and all the others,receptionist with painted glitter nails wasl lovely,everyone including chambermaids very pleasant and helpfull.Only down side they need better signage to reach pool bar and access pool area i watched peoplefrom my balcony walk in circles.

An excellent two day stay to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. A very acceptable complimentary cake and bottle of bubbly arrived just after check in. This hotel is set on a hill with sea views but a car essential as nothing within easy walking distance. The hotel last week was not used by any British tour companies so visitors mostly from Spain and food style similar. Breakfast and evening buffets were wide-ranging and delicious. Good range of seafood and desserts to gorge on! Room was a good size and very clean. Bathroom had been refurbished relatively recently. WiFi worked in our room even though on fifth floor. The hotel has a bowling alley, also plenty of pool tables and fun attractions for children. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall the hotel was excellent value for money.

we stayed for 3 nights it was my birthday and the hotel gave me a bottle of bubbly and a hugh cake we were very gratefull for it plenty of things going on at the hotel lovely walking distance to the port and the town

The facilities were good but not great. The walls were thin, there was no local supermarket to buy supplies and the food was quite poor quality. The staff at reception were a bit rude and couldn’t offer me any iron/ironing board. However the view from the balcony was very pretty, the tennis court was free and the overall a**osphere was very pleasant. Also you need a car/use the courtesy bus to get to the beach as the resort is on the top of a mountain and there are no cafes or shops nearby.

El hotel Best Alcazar me parece muy buena opción . Destacaría su profesionalidad , su comida y el equipo de animación . La verdad que en cuanto a calidad y precio comparado con otros hoteles, tiene una nota muy alta. Opción para repetir otros años

We booked as a last minute thing and went self catering, because it stated there where bars and restaurants not far from the hotel/apar**ent ,we noticed as soon as we got here it was up in the hills hidden and we didn't see 1 bar or restaurant on our way ,infact it cost us 15 euro each way sometimes more to get the the nearest stone beach where there was a couple of bars and restaurants but they all sold mostly fish/sea food ,bit of a struggle when some of us don't like fish, at first I was impressed with the size of the apar**ent and the cleanliness of it and the beds where comfy aswell , then I realised there where coffee cups but no kettle and no toaster or grill ,just 2 hobs and a microwave ,there isn't 1 shop around the hotel that sells the assentials ,bread, milk ect you have to travel and pay 30 euros and even then its a 30 minute wait for a taxi everytime ,we spent an absolute fortune on taxi fair and we had to walk back from the beach on our last day because apparently there wasn't any taxis available, we ordered a pizza at the bar because that was the only thing they had for us and it wasn't cooked ,the cheese wasn't even melted, we where left with dirty sheets for 3 days and we then had to ask them to change them even then , there wasn't any toilet roll left for us when we ran out ,and the floor of the apar**ent wasnt swept or mopped once in the week we was there they did however give us clean towels ,I was stood at the bar with my 10 year old waiting for a drink and the bar man looked right over me and served the person behind me (this happened a few times) it's a hotel for local spanish people on there holidays not a tourist hotel , so there wasnt anyone who spoke much english and it made everything 10x harder we didn't feel welcome at all by the staff , our kids wasn't asked to get involved in the pool games or anything else for that matter they walked past us ,we also got served the all inclusive drinks rather than the proper drinks and got charged the same ,we know this because one of the bar men told another one he was serving us the wrong drinks ,we only realised this on the second to last day ,
