I would give the hotel more stars if I could, but I did have a few hiccups, but service recovery was outstanding, didn’t fix the issue, but they did try. I am a hotel executive, not with this brand and decided to stay here due to the proximity to my business and I love the brand and its new. So here is the challenges: the hotel located in the middle of horrible road construction and the front entrance is blocked due to this, no signage or way up know this and I had a rental car in middle of the night and had a difficult times finding a way to get to an entrance, so that’s a big disadvantage and I can say taking numerous Ubers and taxis, none knew where to go and I had to direct them the 4 days I was there. The valet and bell staff are fabulous, Pete and Julio, the best, went beyond in service. AJ who is a front office supervisor, recognized me immediately as a IHG Platinum guest and all that comes with it. Such a pleasant staff, I was upgraded to 10th floor city view, which you think would be fabulous, but the distance and maze to get there, not the best, but the rooms are spectacular with awesome bathrooms and very nice size with phenomenal mattress and pillows. The biggest problem I had was lukewarm water in shower entire 3 nights I was there. Maintenance came a few times, but never was corrected, not the worst, but I need very hot water for some medical issues, so was disappointing and uncomfortable for me. AJ sent me wine to the room and unfortunately it wasn’t wine I drank, I only drink bubbles and he immediately changed it to champagne. Every team member smiled, said hello and everyone at the desk immediately when I came through a door or in the lobby said hello using my name. I also got no fewer than 6 texts checking on me through the week and inviting me to their Happy Hour which is great by the way, complimentary wine from 5-6 pm I believe. Bottom line is, they have a few links to work out, but this is the BEST service I have had in years at a hotel and I travel both internationally and domestically around 200 nights or more a year staying mostly in 4-5 star luxury hotels. Go visit this hotel just for the experience and check out San Antonio while you are there-you will fall in LOVE with the Kimpton Santo!!
