B&B Ferme de Tayac

If you’re looking for a special place to stay in the heart of the Dordogne, Ferme de Tayac is the place! Set in the town of Les Eyzies within walking distance to the National Museum of Prehistory and many fine restaurants, excellent hosts, Eleonore and Cedric, run a small boutique hotel complete with a beautiful garden and swimming pool. The rooms are comfortable—especially the bed—with modern bathrooms. You also get a delicious breakfast with lots of homemade and locally sourced breads, jams, cheeses, and yogurt. But above all you get the friendliest and most helpful hosts ever! Eleanore—fluent in French, English and German, at least—oriented us to the best sites to see and even helped to make our dinner reservations! We would definitely return given the opportunity!

This is one of those places that seasoned travelers want to keep secret - it’s absolutely perfect in every way! The rooms and grounds are beautiful and historical, the surroundings are amazing ( right next door to a fortified church from the early Middle Ages). Also, the location is exactly where you want to be to explore the nearby prehistoric caves, lovely small villages, chateaus and castles. The owners Eleanore and Cedric will make you feel right at home and they have wonderful suggestions for restaurants and things to do! This is my third time to stay and I cannot wait to visit again!

This is the loveliest most comfortable place to stay! The owners, Eleonore and Cedric, are equally lovely. We have stayed two years in a row and plan to return this next year. What better recommendation than we can't wait to return?

Our stay at the Ferme de Tayac for 4 nights was a highlight of our trip to France and a true delight. Eleanore and Cedric were thoughtful hosts and have created a quiet, welcoming retreat that we’ll hope to come back to visit again. Among the things we most enjoyed was the location: just a few blocks from the train station and the town center of Les Eyzies, and yet still with a quiet and secluded feeling. The grounds of their property has a history dating back hundreds of years as a monastery, and the eglise that it served still stands next door, and is a quiet retreat spot itself. Eleanor had a huge amount of helpful information about the area—from hiking paths, to eateries to history museums. Cedric treated us to a concert of 78 rpm gramophone records which was a truly unique experience! The breakfasts and small amenities like tea, an swimming pool and outdoor sitting tables were really wonderful. But above all else was our experience of their warm hospitality and the tranquil a**osphere they’ve created at Ferme de Tayac.

Great location and service. Rooms are comfortable and pleasent. Awsome breakfast with large offerings. Hoghly recommended for individuals,couples and families. The location allows access to the Perigord attractions. Plenty of resturants and services near by. The owner is multilingual and speaks fluent French, English and German.

We had a superb week at the Ferme de Tayac in the Vezere Valley of France. Our hosts were delightful, helpful and knowledgeable about the region. The room was comfortable and beautifully furnished with a comfy bed and well appointed adjoining bathroom. Breakfasts were fabulous! All this in a renovated 12th century monastery!

Wow. A really unique and fantastic place. We stayed in the Charles Trenet room which was uniquely and beautifully decorated. A fantastic blend of antique decorations and modern facilities. Hard to thread that needle but I think they succeeded. Elinor is also an amazing attentive and gracious host. If your travels take you to the area you would be hard pressed for a better choice.

No words can do justice to how truly wonderful this B&B (but oh so much more), is! From the minute we walked through the beautiful double doors overhanging with blossom and we’re greeted by the lovely Eleonore, we felt as though we were more than just paying guests, but a close friend or part of the family. Eleonore has such a wonderful way of making you feel so very special. The house itself is warm (like a loving hug) welcoming and full of the most interesting objet d'art which includes Cedric’s fabulous collection of old gramophones and records! (Make sure you ask to listen to them, it’s a treat!) The rooms are spacious, the beds luxuriously comfortable and the bathrooms have everything you need. Even a face cloth, which for me was a big 👍 We did find the rooms a little on the warm side but we opened the bathroom window fully to bring air into the room and that worked perfectly. It was very hot at the time of our holiday! The breakfasts are incredible with fresh crusty breads, eggs, croissants and or pastries, home made yoghurt, fresh berries, homemade jams and a selection of teas or freshly brewed coffee!! It is served with all guests seated at one large family table and it was a perfect way to get to know other travelers. We were fortunate to have another wonderful couple there while we were there, who we very much enjoyed getting to know, and shared drinks with in the common lounge room, in the evenings. The swimming pool was AMAZING! Quite the most perfect temperature and glorious in its surrounds. Eleonore has quite the green finger when it comes to her marvelous garden. The Wi-Fi is 100% reception from anywhere in the house. You could easily stay here and never want to venture outside of the walls that surround this little piece of Heaven, but being within walking distance to a wonderful village, great eateries, and short drives away from the best places that Dordogne has to offer, I would suggest staying with Eleonore and Cedric as long as you can and making the most of their hospitality and everything this region is famous for. Being in Australia makes it hard for us to travel there as often as we might like, but we most certainly intend to visit Ferme de Tayac again.

My family (parents and children ages 11 and 14) stayed at Ferme de Tayac for three nights in July. Our host, Eleonore, was delightful. She was warm, welcoming and always available for help or advice. Breakfast was delicious and served in a beautiful outdoor patio. Eleonore was very accommodating of our teen who slept in past breakfast hours. The swimming pool was warm, with luxurious towels and bathrobes provided. The location is excellent, in close walking distance to shops and restaurants in Les Eyzies, and with dozens of interesting sites and attractions in the nearby area. Ferme de Tayac would be an excellent place for a longer stay. We recommend it highly.
