The kindest thing to say about this place is that COVID has hit the hospitality industry hard. But then I read reviews from many years ago, that make the same complaints as mine. We three found the place dusty and miserable. Breakfast was to be a loaf of frozen bread just taken out of the freezer, served in an ugly room with a dirty plastic tablecloth. There were no other guests when we arrived on Sunday afternoon. The stale vanilla scent sticks could not disguise the overall mustiness of the place. The sad thing is that it could be excellent with just a little more TLC. We decided to forfeit the cost of accomodation and continue our journey on, as none of us wanted to spend a night here. Accomodation at Segenhoe is not cheap. For the previous two nights we had stayed at the wonderfully restored and equally historic Gonoo Gonoo Station about an hour and a half away. Our granny flat there, with two bedrooms, cost less than two sub-standard rooms at Segenhoe.
