During my recent trip to Hualien, I had the unique opportunity to stay at the Peace Prison Cafe Inn Hostel, and it truly exceeded my expectations. As soon as I arrived, the prison theme instantly caught my attention. The rooms were designed to resemble prison cells, which added an intriguing and immersive element to my stay. One thing that stood out to me was the absence of a traditional reception desk. Instead, to gain entry, all guests need to do is call the contact number provided, which adds a touch of mystery to the experience. The lady working there was exceptionally helpful and patient, even taking the time to explain how to use the facilities in Chinese. Her assistance made my stay all the more enjoyable. As a solo traveler, I couldn't help but appreciate the eerie vibes that the place exudes, especially since I'm a fan of horror. Every night, I found myself immersed in an atmosphere that perfectly catered to my taste. It's not often that you come across a hostel that provides such a unique and thrilling ambiance. Cleanliness is always a priority for me, and I was pleased to find that Peace Prison Cafe Inn Hostel did not disappoint in this aspect. The rooms were well-maintained, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant stay. The convenient location of the hostel was also a major plus, making it easy for me to explore and enjoy everything that Hualien has to offer. First of all, this is a very old hotel that has seen truly better days. While maintained well, it has retained it's original furnishings and decor from the 1980s and 1990s. Staying here reminded me of my childhood travelling with my family in the 80s. The actual room does not look anything like the ones shown on the website. The hard floors mean you should wear their slippers or bring your own room slippers. The hot spring water advertised is just hot spring water pipes that go into your bathtub. There is a step that emulates hot spa step in the bathtub. The breakfast was good with nice braised meat and eggs that you can put over your rice or porridge. There's also hot soy milk. But no hot tea, only coffee. The staff look tired but hard working. There was a grumpy older lady receiptionist when we checked in and she was pretty rough in the check in process. E.g. ”if you don't put a number here, and you leave things in the hotel, we'll just throw them away! Just to tell you first.” Room was quite small or cosy, depending on your perspective. The only thing new was the air-conditioner. The TV set had all the settings for channels but none worked. Internet wifi was not quite working too.

The location of the hotel is very convenient. One particular situation I would like to thank and point out is upon my arrival to the hotel. I was given a room which had a funny sound that occur periodically. I called the lady who assisted me in the check-in process and pointed out this problem. Without much hesitation, I was given another room of the same grade immediately.

I loved my stay at Slack BnB. It is easy to find in the village.The facilities are very clean, everything is well-planned and guests have a lot of opportunities to rest. Very cosy Dorms with built-in Beds, which have a good quality. The guests are very respectful and quiet. There is a kitchen to provide food, slacklines in the garden, lots of space to hang out and a Beamer where you can watch YouTube etc. The staff is very motivated to keep everything clean, this can be seen in various facets. The staff and the owner are so helpful which I appreciated much. I can definitely recommend this hostel to everybody when visiting the island.

Beautiful place, huge,clean well decorated rooms ! Mr Hong was so nice. He gave us a free upgrade and made a yummy western breakfasts then left the property to us for a totally private stay. The location was perfect, easy to find and a quick drive into the Taroko park, and drives along the coastal views hwy 9. We used their free house bikes to riding along the coast path to the cute village for meals. There is 7/11 near to pick up snack and a ATV rental for beach rides less then a 1 mile away !!

very spacious room and nice scenery outside our room.. the location although is abit deep in, but it brings the scenery view to next level.. understand from the owner that during good weather, able to see sunrise, unfortunately it was raining during my stay... breakfast selection is quite limited.. but still acceptable for me as its a typical comforting food that i like!

The service from the staff was very good & perlite. The place is clean & has free drinks & snack at the lobby. Breakfast was good & nice. There is a night market but only operated on weekend. It’s the cheapest place to stay.

The reception is friendly, the explanations are clear, bicycles are available for use, the nearby environment is beautiful and leisurely, the water temperature is not high, but the water flow is sufficient, the floor will be slightly slippery, so pay attention to safety!

I thought I could just rest and sleep, but I was surprised when I entered the room. The four-person room was large and the bathroom was very clean. There are shopping malls, Quanlian, and convenience stores nearby, so you don't have to worry about going hungry. It's very close to nearby attractions. Next time Will come again😇

It is my first time to stay at Aixunge Hotel. I really like the Japanese tatami style. The environment is very elegant and clean. The bathroom has a window and the equipment is very high-quality. It includes a capsule coffee machine, a small refrigerator, a Brita filter kettle, a Dyson hair dryer, and a flush toilet. ⋯, getting up in the morning listening to the sweet chirping of birds, so happy! The view in the restaurant is great! The breakfast is very healthy. The boss also introduces the origin and characteristics of the food one by one. It feels very safe to eat. The overall CP value is very high! Really recommend! Next time I go to Cingjing, I will definitely book a mountain view room in advance.
