The 'Tongjiu Collection: Kongcheng' mentions, 'Smoke rises from small gatherings, tales tell of Lu Meng's city

' Kongcheng Old Street is located within the jurisdiction of Kongcheng Town, Tongcheng City, Anhui Province, about 12 kilometers from the city center of Tongcheng, and has a history of more than 1,800 years. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, Kongcheng Old Street, as an important water transport wharf connecting the Chaohu region and the Yangtze River region, became increasingly prosperous. During the Taiping Rebellion, Kongcheng was destroyed but soon recovered; Kongcheng Old Street is about 3 kilometers in total length, with the street width being around 3 meters. The streets, alleys, and lanes are all paved with cobblestones, covering a total area of 170,000 square meters. It is divided into ten sections, each separated by sluice gates. The street runs north to south in an 'S' shape, with the terrain sloping from south to north, featuring one main street, two cross streets, and three alleys and one lane. The shops and houses are all made of green bricks and grey tiles, many with flying eaves and upturned corners, and wood-carved windows. Inside Kongcheng Old Street, there are attractions such as Li Hongzhang's bank, Ni Mansion, Tongxiang Academy, Kongcheng Cinema, Yao's Big House, Cultural Revolution relic quote wall, and Cheng's Ancestral Hall; there are 40 shops distributed along the street.
