Visit Zhongshan Hall

Zhongshan Hall, located within Yangmingshan National Park, was built in 1965 to commemorate the 100th birthday of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the founding father of the Republic of China. Designed by renowned architect Ms. Xiu Zelan, the hall spans approximately 18,000 square meters and features traditional Chinese palace-style architecture. The three-story building includes a conference hall that can accommodate 1,800 people and a restaurant with a capacity of 2,000. This unique structure is the only building in the world constructed atop a volcanic crater. Situated in the sulfuric area, the site is characterized by intense geothermal activity and mixed soil conditions, including rocks, silt, and mud. The construction faced significant challenges due to the rudimentary building equipment available at the time. After 13 months of effort by veterans, the hall was finally completed on November 6, 1966. Surrounded by lush greenery and mountains, Zhongshan Hall boasts a traditional Chinese classical exterior and elegantly detailed interior decor.
