Zhao Zhuochen was a philanthropist who, in addition to founding charity schools and donating to charitable organizations, donated the Zhao Family Garden after his death to promote social welfare. Yihong Garden was luxuriously decorated, spacious, and located within the concession, making it a safe and convenient environment. It became a well-known public space in Shanghai at the time and a place for celebrities to gather and communicate. Sun Yat-sen visited here three times in 1911 and 1913. Later, due to war, the Zhao family moved overseas, and Yihong Garden changed hands several times, serving as a factory and a residence. The original appearance of the building was severely damaged due to various renovations. After the Shanghai Literature Museum was located in Hongkou, Yihong Garden was restored according to the principle of "repairing the old as the old" and was officially opened to the public as the Ba Jin Library in November 2024.
