Visit the temple and admire the Lanna-style mural paintings.

🏡 Wat Luang Ratchasathan, once an abandoned temple, was established in 1482. Later, Chao Luang Wong, the ruler of Phayao, restored and renovated it, completing the work in 1844. Locals then referred to it as Wat Luang, and it was later renamed Wat Luang Ratchasathan. The temple was officially registered as a historical site in 1935. Key attractions within the temple include: 🏠 The Lanna-style viharn (main hall), featuring mural paintings created with a mixture of tempera paint, glue, and tree resin. These murals, depicting the Ten Jataka Tales and the life of Buddha, were painted on mulberry paper and cloth, then affixed to wooden walls. Unfortunately, in 1984, a storm caused the viharn to collapse, destroying many of the murals. 🏠 A new viharn was later constructed on the original foundation, preserving the architectural style while making some modifications.
