Kyoto's Toji Temple is also one of the famous spots for cherry blossom viewing

This time, I'll share a bit about Toji Temple, a World Heritage Site in Kyoto. Toji Temple is the head temple of the Shingon sect of Japanese Buddhism. It was built during the period when the capital was moved to Heian-kyo. Later, Emperor Saga entrusted Toji Temple to Kukai, also known as Kobo Daishi, who had returned from studying Esoteric Buddhism in the Tang Dynasty. Kukai established the central mandala, lecture hall, and five-storied pagoda here. However, what we see now has been restored and rebuilt over time, as many buildings were damaged by natural disasters and human calamities. Today, Japanese people still believe that Master Kukai's spirit is in Mount Koya, but his heart remains in Toji Temple. Therefore, every morning, many Esoteric Buddhism followers come to the temple's Miedo Hall to worship. In early spring, under the five-storied pagoda and beside the treasure hall, several early cherry trees and plum blossoms are blooming beautifully, making it a great spot for photography enthusiasts to enjoy the flowers.
