Immaculate Conception Catholic Church

The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, popularly known as St. Mary's Church, is the oldest Catholic temple in Katowice's Sródmiescie district. Its origins date back to the mid-nineteenth century, when a huge number of people flowed into the area of today's Katowice, and therefore the parish significantly expanded. The interior of St. Mary's Church was decorated by the most famous artists. Particularly noteworthy is the beautiful stained glass by Adam Bunsch. On one side of the building there are stained glass windows depicting symbols of Christian virtues, and on the other side there are symbols of sin. It is worth visiting St. Mary's Church, the construction of which is closely related to the founding of the city of Katowice and remains an integral part of its history to this day. #church #katowice #catholic
