Qinghai Lake, 'Holy Lake of the Plateau'

Qinghai Lake is known as the 'Holy Lake of the Plateau'. It is an internationally important wetland, a typical representative of the world's plateau inland lake wetland type, an important breeding ground for waterfowl and a major node in their migration route. It is an important water source conservation area and water vapor circulation channel in western China, a crucial water body for maintaining the ecological security of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and a natural barrier preventing the eastward spread of desertification in the west. It is referred to as the 'climate regulator', 'air humidifier' of northwest China, and the gene pool of species on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
