Chengdu Travel: Sanxingdui | A Sleeping Giant Awakens

Chengdu travel notes: Sanxingdui. The drive from downtown Chengdu to Sanxingdui is about 68 km, and from the Panda Base to Sanxingdui is about 45 km. A visit to the Sanxingdui Museum takes half a day, and longer if you want to take your time or learn more about your favorite exhibits. We arrived at Sanxingdui from the Panda Base at 2:30 pm. After parking, we saw many tour guides on the road. You can join a group tour of about 20 people for CNY 20–30 per person, or form your own group and negotiate the price. We entered Sanxingdui at around 3 pm, and the museum closes at 6 pm. The morning and afternoon crowds had dispersed, so we could get closer to the exhibits and focus on the guide's explanations. The experience was better than in the morning and afternoon crowds. But it was still tiring. We were exhausted after visiting several pavilions. We finished our visit at 6 pm, had a brief discussion with the guide, and found that the cultural and creative store was already closed! So if you want to visit the store, go early. Don't delay. The store has a stamp station, so bring your own journal. There are many stamps, and you can collect them all by stamping around the table. I read a guide that said you can visit the Panda Base and Sanxingdui in one day. But in reality, time is very tight. At the Panda Base, you can see Huahua (queue for at least 1.5 hours), and some pavilions have different opening hours, so you can't see them at any time.
