Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha)

#VisitBangkok Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimonmangklaram is located in Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok. Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimonmangklaram or Wat Pho is a first-class royal temple. It was originally named Wat Photharam. Locals call it "Wat Pho" for short. It is an ancient temple built by the people between 2231-2246 during the reign of Phra Phetracha in the Ayutthaya period. During the Thonburi period, King Taksin the Great elevated the status to Phra Ar-am Luang with a royal monk ruling it since then. Next to Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram or Wat Phra Kaew and across the Chao Phraya River at Tha Tien is Wat Arun Ratchawararam or Wat Chaeng. They are all important temples in Bangkok. They are exquisitely beautiful and are highly worth visiting.
