An exotic hotel. Especially in the drizzly morning, it makes people feel like they have traveled through time. There are golf courses around, holy Buddha statues, and the singing of birds and the fragrance of flowers, which makes people forget to leave. Transportation and shopping are convenient, and you can savor the ancient city. Facilities, services and breakfast are excellent. When in Nuvo, it’s best to come and stay…
Pros:
-Great location, beautiful view of the river
-Wonderful dinner buffet
Cons:
-Check in took close to an hour as they couldn’t find my booking. Had to reach out to trip.com for help. That said trip customer service is excellent
-Rooms are quite old and had a musky smell
Sigiriya village was an exceptional stay! From the moment that we arrived we were taken care of with great service and friendliness!
The surroundings are so beautiful with lush green trees, monkeys and other animals.
The room was spacious, clean and well decorated.
The staff is friendly and always willing to assist.
The best part was the amazing buffet dinner! Amazing selection with superb quality food!
Sigiriya Village is well located and you can see the rock from the swimming pool area.
Definitely recommend staying here!
A must-stay hotel in Sri Lanka. The pool view is unbeatable and the design is excellent. The whole hotel is built on the mountain. It is very beautiful during the day and at night. It is under the Ambrosial Tower. The breakfast is great. Every service staff in the hotel has a very good attitude and service. They are patient and serious. Highly recommended!
Very pretty and nice resort with mountain view. Friendly staffs and super super nice breakfast.
However, it is too fat away from Kandy city center, you have to pay 1500+ rp for each ride, and most tuk tuk drivers don't prefer to go to this place. The google map shows wrong way and the team knew about this, but informed us just on the day of arrival, making this journey even harder.

The road to the hotel is too rugged, 5 minutes to open for 5 minutes, the hotel can be said to be the best memory of this trip, specially intended for the New Year, not to look forward to this. The hotel service did not have to say that Ctrip reservations did not include meals, and the hotel included dinner and breakfast. As the New Year's Eve hotel also invited the band to perform, arranged fireworks at 12:00, and presented local specialties for breakfast. Very unforgettable experience. The hotel is surrounded by a tea garden and there is actually a tea picking experience. Since we don’t allow it, we regret it later. In the room you can see Adam Peak, the first peak of Lanka, and there is a temple opposite the hotel.
The heritage Kandalama Hotel is in the heart of the Gungal near a lake. The hotel was designed with consideration and respect for the environment, the animals that live there and the nature that surrounds the hotel.
The room is cozy and well-equipped and includes a balcony overlooking the jungle. The infinity pool overlooks a lake where elephants and birds stay. We received a pleasant welcome from the hotel staff. The dining room is immersed in green and the breakfast is great. We received excellent service and personal attention from the entire staff at the hotel. We arrived at the hotel without luggage and they made sure to coordinate the arrival of the luggage for us.
We liked Nalinda the kind guide from the hotel who took us on a morning tour and since then we became friends. Nalinda took care of our well-being even after we left the hotel. Thank you very much for a pleasant stay. Definitely recommended for those who want to rest and relax in a dreamy place.

Very comfortable hotel and great breakfast, though the aircon in our room produced a musty smell. Good view of the lake but the hotel being up a hill, the view is a little distant.
Booked the Danbulak Kandalam Heritage Hotel, but later said the hotel was full, let ’s change the hotel, changing the hotel we wanted before the trip was really uncomfortable at first, then Ctrip let us choose the hotel ourselves because of time I was nervous when I chose the water garden hotel, but I did n’t have much hope, but the staying experience was very good, the rooms are comfortable, the environment is quiet, you can overlook the Lion Rock. Returned the difference to me, very good hotel, added points for my trip to Sri Lanka, thanks

MMuhammad Irsyad Bin ZainiTitle: A Tranquil Oasis in the Heart of Sri Lanka - Amaya Hill Hotel
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
From the moment I set foot in the enchanting Amaya Hill Hotel in Sri Lanka, I was transported to a realm of unparalleled luxury and serenity. Nestled amidst the lush greenery of the Kandy hills, this hidden gem offers an experience that is nothing short of magical.
The first thing that caught my eye was the breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The hotel's strategic location provides guests with an uninterrupted vista of nature's beauty, creating a sense of peace and tranquility that is hard to find elsewhere. The sight alone is worth the visit.
Amaya Hill Hotel effortlessly combines modern elegance with traditional charm. The architecture is a blend of contemporary design and Sri Lankan aesthetics, creating a harmonious atmosphere that resonates throughout the property. The attention to detail is impeccable, from the intricately designed lobby to the thoughtfully decorated rooms.
Speaking of rooms, the accommodations at Amaya Hill are nothing short of luxurious. Spacious, well-appointed, and equipped with all the amenities one could desire, the rooms offer a perfect sanctuary for relaxation. The comfortable beds ensure a restful night's sleep, and waking up to the breathtaking sunrise from the large windows is a treat in itself.
The hotel's culinary offerings are a true delight for the senses. The restaurants showcase the best of Sri Lankan and international cuisine, prepared with precision and passion. Each dish is a culinary masterpiece, and the attentive staff adds to the overall dining experience. Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy a romantic dinner under the stars at one of the outdoor dining venues – an experience that will linger in your memory.
One of the standout features of Amaya Hill Hotel is its commitment to wellness and rejuvenation. The spa facilities are world-class, offering a range of treatments that blend ancient healing practices with modern techniques. A dip in the infinity pool, surrounded by the serene landscape, is a perfect way to unwind and soak in the beauty of nature.
The attentive and courteous staff at Amaya Hill Hotel deserves special mention. Their genuine warmth and eagerness to make every guest feel at home truly set this establishment apart. The level of service is exemplary, making it clear that the staff is dedicated to ensuring a memorable stay for every guest.
In conclusion, Amaya Hill Hotel in Sri Lanka is a true haven for those seeking a blend of luxury, natural beauty, and genuine hospitality. Whether you're a solo traveler, a couple looking for a romantic getaway, or a family in search of a peaceful retreat, Amaya Hill Hotel is an absolute treasure waiting to be discovered. My stay was nothing short of magical, and I eagerly look forward to returning to this paradise in the hills.
GGuest UserThe Good
The standout feature of The Coffee Bungalow is undoubtedly its staff, particularly Adrian, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Everyone we encountered was attentive and genuinely warm, making us feel well cared for. The food was another highlight—delicious and thoughtfully prepared. A particularly nice touch was when they packed us a complimentary to-go lunch for our train journey out of Kandy, which was a pleasant and unexpected gesture.
The Bad
The lack of air conditioning was a notable downside, especially given Kandy’s humidity. While the property has a charming colonial feel, the absence of a solid door between the bedroom and bathroom was an odd design choice. Although the toilet and shower do have louvered doors, privacy is somewhat compromised. Another issue was the challenging entry system—we found ourselves locked out one night, which was frustrating and inconvenient.
The Ugly
Unfortunately, the biggest drawback was the ant problem. While some level of bugs is to be expected in a tropical setting, the sheer number of ants, particularly in the bathroom but also in the bedroom, was hard to ignore. It definitely impacted our overall comfort.
Overall, The Coffee Bungalow has a lot of charm and some truly wonderful hospitality, but there are a few quirks and inconveniences that might not suit every traveler. If you’re prepared for a bit of rustic charm and can handle the lack of AC and privacy, the warm service and great food may make up for the downsides.
AAleksei ZobovThe hotel is nice, spacious beautiful room at check in we were treated to a refreshing juice. There is a big pool on the grounds and a big jacuzzi with hot water in the room.
Minuses of the hotel:
Far from the attractions. Taxi from the center only go there for the price of pick me x2. Hotel taxi are 3 times more expensive. There are no stores and restaurants near the hotel, so inside the hotel prices for food x3, Also after 6pm it is dangerous to be outside because elephants are walking around. Now let's talk about the premium status and the five races. In 7 years of traveling, this is the first hotel that did not have a bathrobe, slippers and toothbrush and toothpaste in the room. The plumbing in the shower leaks, and the doors creak so much that you could call the spirits at night. Regarding the attention to the customer. I mentioned my upcoming birthday in conversation with the manager, but this fact was not used in any way to show any form of attention from the hotel. This is a huge miscalculation on the part of the staff at a premium hotel. We also had a late departure and our request to delay in the hotel for a couple of hours was refused. This was not due to the arrival of new customers, as the manager offered to extend our stay for a fee. For future customers this fact may be decisive in their choice. In general, the hotel is not bad, but the service and flexibility of the staff, as well as individual approach to customers, does not correspond to the premium level and requires improvement.
GGuest UserThe owners and employees at this hotel are so, so lovely.
Unfortunately their hotel is not. I almost feel catfished as many of the photos highlighted the bar and pool party atmosphere. This was not the case - the pool was a decent size but in the shade and I actually didn’t see anyone in it. The pool party drinking shots I highly suspect were perhaps not a genuine source.
The same goes for the bar which is massive and attended to by several lovely young, bored gentlemen as both times I popped up (once for dinner) I was the only patron. Again no party atmosphere or even people - which is a shame as it is a big venue.
Fortunately next door was another venue for some decent cocktails and music which saved the boredom somewhat.
The bedroom was a decent size with a small fridge (but didn’t work), the bathroom was small, felt dirty, no hand soap or soap for the shower (apart from leftover previous occupants - and that was gross).
The pressure was poor making showering difficult and there was plaster on the floor from some damage - not cleaned up.
The bed was massive and comfortable with air conditioning and a fan so sleep was good.
Finally, and to repeat, the staff were lovely. Very hospitable and the location is about a ten minute walk to the Sacred Tooth Temple and Kandy Lake. So great location.
Would I stay there again - no. Would I pop in to say hello to the owners and next door for a cocktails - possibly!
SSHAOPENGThe location of this hotel is a bit hard to find, but it was really unexpected after entering the hotel. The hotel staff is very good, there will be drinks and drinks, the dinner is really good, and then the breakfast will be prepared in advance in the morning. The only downside is that the room is small, but the scenery outside is very good.
MMark RizzutoOur least popular hotel stay in Sri Lanka. We checked in for 4 nights and needed to ask for a room change the following day given the toilet smelt and slowly kept flooding the bathroom floor. That problem clearly pre-existed, but given most people only stay a night, It wasn't something that was high on the hotels priority list to address. The coaches come and go carrying 55-70 year old Europeans and Chinese, and they only stay a night. The level of service at this hotel wasn't a great experience, with reception needing management attention. There were exceptions (pool guy and luggage porter were both lovely).
The most frustrating thing about this hotel is that they should be rocking it. It's a great location, nice pool and a good setting, but that's where it stops. The rooms and restaurant are physically tired. Food was pretty average bordering poor despite being plentiful in choice. They had live music playing at night, which was so 'live' that it sent us to sleep early two nights in a row. Great idea, terrible execution, and that is pretty much how we would sum up the place.
It's no surprise that the hero promotional shot used by the hotel to market it's hotel is the photo of the view from the swimming póol to Lions Rock. Sadly, that's the only hero experience to be found at this hotel.

GGuest UserOf the pluses: hot water, sometimes boiling water and thick fluffy towels. Clean bed, mirrors, working surfaces.
In the rest, the impression that got to the hotel at the time of the move.
GGuest UserRecommended, the location is very good, opposite the Lion Rock, and there are many food and drink options next to the hotel. The lobby decoration is very distinctive, and the room is not big but comfortable and clean. There are not many types of breakfast, but it is a pleasure to sit in the beautiful lobby to eat. And the price matches!
GGuest Userhad pleasure of staying at this hotel, and I couldn't be more impressed with the level of service and hospitality we received. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and memorable.
The team was incredibly helpful in arranging transportation and suggesting places to visit. They recommended we attend the Tooth Relic Procession and suggested us to visit a waterfall, which turned out to be the most breathtaking waterfall I've ever seen. Their local knowledge truly enhanced our experience.
When our cab dropped us off in the mid , the hotel staff immediately came to pick us up in tuk-tuk.
The staff was consistently polite and accommodating, making us feel welcome and valued throughout our stay. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place where the staff genuinely cares about making your stay special. Thank you for the experience!
