Such an amazing place so we decided to extend our stay. The only difficulty is to get around as it’s far from the city center, but the rest is fantastic.

The Sanctuary Nam Ngum Beach Resort in Vientiane left me utterly impressed with its serene ambiance and exceptional hospitality. Nestled by the tranquil Nam Ngum Lake, the resort offers breathtaking views and a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle. The well-designed cottages blend seamlessly with nature, providing a comfortable and stylish retreat. The resort's commitment to sustainability is commendable, and the staff's warmth and attentiveness added a personal touch to my stay. With a range of activities and delectable dining options, the Sanctuary Nam Ngum Beach Resort stands out as a perfect haven for those seeking relaxation and natural beauty. Great place with friendly staff, especially at the reception. Clean rooms and nice view. Clean pool overlooking the River … They need to make a proper walkway because the main entrance area floods..I ruined my sneakers.

Sanctuary Nam Ngum Beach Resort might be a little off the beaten track, but WHAT A GEM! A calm and quiet oasis only two hours north of Vientiane, and just a short ride away from Vang Vieng. The accommodations are stylish, modern, and EXTREMELY comfortable, even luxurious. And the options you have for water sports / activities are many - pedal boating, jet skis, kayak, Stand Up Paddle Boarding, or just relax by the gorgeous swimming pool with a view out over the lake instead. The restaurant serves great food, and breakfast s varied and well-managed, and the staff do everything they can to ensure a pleasant stay, always with a smile. I wish I could have stayed longer!

I stayed at the Sanctuary Nam Ngum Beach Resort in Vang Vieng this summer. The resort boasts breathtaking views of Nam Ngum Lake, which we enjoyed from our spacious terrace. Visiting during the off-season meant fewer water activities but provided a serene atmosphere to appreciate nature. The resort features a lovely, often tranquil swimming pool. Dining was a highlight, offering table-served breakfasts and flavorful dinners, including traditional dishes like khao pad and paah savanh. While the resort's riverside location was idyllic, it did attract some night insects and lizards. Nevertheless, keeping the doors closed resolved this, adding to the soothing ambiance. Nearby hiking trails provided glimpses of local scenery, offering a peaceful escape into nature. Exploring the adjacent small village gave us insights into the local culture, including practices like fish drying and rooster fighting, though the latter has lost popularity. The resort is situated outside the city center but offers complimentary bicycles for exploration and a $18 pick-up/drop-off service at the train station. I recommend this resort to nature enthusiasts, even during the off-season. Its picturesque riverside setting is captivating, and there are numerous easy hiking trails to explore.

We stayed at the resort/hotel for 5 days in July. We wanted to stay outside the city and while that was the right choice for us, it’s far from the city and it takes app 30min to get there. The view from the rooms/pool is great, the manager is very serviceminded and the food is good. However, the place is rather worn down, the majority of the staff do not understand/speak English and the pool is not very clean.

Beautiful lake setting, amazing views, comfortable stylish rooms, friendly and helpful staff. New pool with bar, excellent cocktails. We booked three nights, then stayed an extra night, didn’t want to leave. Enjoyed jet ski and a trip with local fisherman in long tail boat. Hotel surprised me with a personalised cake on my birthday, a special touch. Setting is remote so we hired a motor bike in Vian Vieng. Exploring the area by bike was great, no other tourists around, Laos villagers going about their daily lives, quiet roads and amazing scenery. A perfect stay.

We stayed here for two nights and wish we’d had a third! We were so glad we picked to stay here - the setting is beautiful and it was great to get a better feel of the countryside of Laos rather than just the cities. Perfect place to chill. If your main reason for going to the area is to do activities in vang vieng I would stay in the city itself as it is quite a long taxi drive (about 40 mins) but if you want a relax and occasional activity in Vang Vieng then this is perfect. Staff were all lovely, in particular the operations manager was so helpful and sorted any issues we had straight away. Good massage and food was good and reasonably priced for a hotel. We rented a kayak (not expensive) on the lake which was also really nice to do. Maybe wear a flip flop for arrival if it’s just been rainy season!
