We just returned to Canada after staying three weeks at Residence Giardino Dei Colori. It was our first time visiting Lake Garda. I had spent many hours researching the hotels on the lake. Let me tell you, there were many filters applied to the search engine. Residence Giardino Dei Colori was a clear winner. There was no second guessing once I found it. We wanted a place where we could travel the lake by ferry or bus. We were not going to be renting a car. Check. We wanted an apartment type set up where we could cook our own meals. Check. We wanted a pool where we could relax in between days spent exploring the lake. Check. We wanted air conditioning. Check. We wanted a balcony to relax on. Check. We finally wanted a room that was clean and attractive. Check. We wanted a location on the lake that was central. Where we could visit the north or south end of the lake by ferry and still have time to get off the ferry to explore lakeside towns. Check. I have listed 7 checks and if I could grade these checks I’d give each of them 5 stars. We knew immediately when we arrived that we had found a very special place that exceeded our expectations. Our holiday was perfect. I feel that I need to shine the spotlight on the manager - Franca Dubbini. All of the above is due to the manager of the hotel, Franca. She’s a very impressive lady. She is kind, peaceful, friendly, organized, competent and capable. I could go on. Her office feels like an attractive welcoming room of a house. It made you want to linger longer. Franca’s father built the hotel and he didn’t leave a stone unturned. We were very impressed with the air conditioning that was quiet and could keep up with the heat wave that lingered during our stay. The washing machine, dishwasher and refrigerator were excellent quality, something you don’t quite expect at a hotel. The furnishings were lovely in a French Provincial style. The hotel is suitable for families and couples. Let’s get back to Franca. There were a few incidents that required repair. One, some damage done on the balcony by an overnight storm. Franca had the repair men in immediately. Secondly, early on in our stay my husband accidentally left his knapsack at a restaurant in Salo. When we returned to get it it was gone. Inside the knapsack was our hotel key. We returned back at the hotel late in the evening and felt bad disturbing Franca with a WhatsApp call after 11 pm. She was out and about but came to the hotel very cheerfully. She didn’t make us feel badly. Rather she was concerned first and foremost with our loss. She felt like a friend with the love and kindness she showed. Immediately the nex morning she had a repair man come to replace the locks for our safety and also the safety of the hotel. We know for a fact that she could have charged around 300 euros but only charged us for the labour for the men she hired. We were VERY impressed and thankful. Finally, Franca was extrem
