This traditional, family-run hotel is located in the heart of the picturesque town of St. Gilgen, only a few steps away from the shore of Lake Wolfgang. Recently renovated and enlarged, Hotel Gasthof zur Post GmbH was built in 1330 and served for a long time as a coaching inn. The foundation and parts of the façade are from the Middle Ages. The building's special charm is reflected in its massive stone walls and floors, the traditional basements and vaults, and the precious wall paintings. At the Gasthof zur Post you can experience the very special ambience of a traditional atmosphere combined with innovative design. Classic elements such as green loden, a great deal of wood and deer antlers are integrated into the rooms in an original way. Many rooms feature impressive open bathrooms. Enjoy a rich selection of delicious regional and Austrian specialities, traditional fare and seasonal delicacies such as asparagus. The freshly caught fish from Lake Wolfgang is especially popular. All ingredients come from the Salzkammergut region. Over the years Gasthof zur Post has hosted many famous personalities. Nice hotel near the alps, the rooms are big and very comfortable, the breakfast and dinner was also very good! The staff is very helpful and friendly. Supermarket and pharmacy nearby. In summary, it as amazing place to spend the holidays with family.

Went to visit for a weekend had room 403 on the top floor it was such a great view (corner room) if you aren't short of cash would highly recommend the upgrade! Very clean hotel with friendly staff, nice breakfast buffet too! Central location loved the visit

We really enjoyed our dinner there. Fresh and tasty. The waiters were friendly, tried to help translate the menu (written in German only, the new English version was not available until next day as they said). The elderly elegant lady in dirndl was so elegant looking, we could look at her all day, beautiful and her sweet perfume smell !! We had kaiserschmarrn as dessert...very very big portion for one person..lol lol

St Gilgen is a beautiful town We stayed at the Zur Post once again & it was like coming home. Lovely hotel, great service. Clara was first class, nothing was too much trouble. Many thanks for a lovely stay.

This is a wonderful old style hotel till you open your bedroom door then we are in 2022. All of the waiters and waitresses do a wonderful job there restaurant menu is very very good always a Q to get in lunch and dinner The menu for us on half board was hit and miss some nights good some not so. Chicken 3 nights out of 7 All meals nicely cooked. I had lunch a few times. Always good and a nice wine list The bed room was large and very clean bathroom nice. towels could have been softer there a bit hard Would I come back yes and as TUI have single room a big plus. It is also nice to see all of the family working to make sure it all runs well. Lastly the to waiters were very good

Traditionsreiches, Inhabergeführtes Hotel in Top-Lage. Erste Adresse am Platze. Hervorzuheben sind insbesondere die großzügigen, urgemütlichen Räumlichkeiten, die tolle Küche und besonders die Herzlichkeit aller Mitarbeitenden! Das Familenzimmer ist sehr zu empfehlen, da es neben der gemütlichen Holzeinrichtung mit Balkon einen separaten Kinderteil besitzt, der durch einen Vorhang abgrenzbar ist. Dieser Teil besitzt neben vielen Fenstern auch einen eigenen Zugang zum Balkon. Wirklich toll konzipiert. Traumhaftes Frühstücksbuffet

superschönes sauberes Zimmer mit einem Balkon zur Aussicht auf den Wolfgangsee. Die Saunen wurden auf unsere Bitte hin sofort aktiviert, sehen aus wie nagelneu und sind tadellos sauber. Das Frühstücksbuffet erfüllt alle Wünsche und das Personal ebenso. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!!!!!

Wir waren wegen der Bewertungen und wegen der kleinen Speisekarte dort essen. Leider gab es an diesem Abend nur noch einen Platz draußen. Es waren laut Aussage der Bedienung ein oder mehrere Filmteams da. Nachdem wir unser Essen bestellt hatten, kamen die Teilnehmer der Filmteams nach draußen und belagerten dort den Eingangsbereich und rauchen dort. Die Veranstaltung von denen würde anscheinend kurzerhand nach draußen verlagert. Es war extrem laut und der Zigarettenrauch war auch nicht schön. Die Bedienungen Fragen auch erst nachdem die Teller leer waren, in alles in Ordnung wäre. Essen war gut, aber für den Preis viel zu wenig.

Manchmal sind es Kleinigkeiten, die einen Aufenthalt besonders machen, z.B. der Tablethalter zum Frühstück, um mein E-Paper zu lesen oder die Extraportion Melone und die super leckeren Spiegeleier/gekochten Eier/Rühreier... 😋 Die Lage ist toll, ich hatte einen schönen Blick auf den See.
