Gonatas Hotel

My Mum and I wanted a chilled out holiday in the sun and Gontas hotel was perfect. The hotel was almost full but it was still incredibly quiet, it was laid back but the staff were ready to help whenever you needed them. - Rooms had a big fridge and a mini freezer compar**ent - Amazing air con in all rooms - A little terraced area in front of each room to chill out on - Large pool and loungers with plenty of trees - Breakfast included: Mum and I are coeliac so could only have the gluten free options. We brought our own granola from home and had it with the lovely Greek yoghurt, honey and fruit provided by the hotel. There were also omlettes, fried egg, bacon and cheese. A small pebbled beach is literally across the road from the hotel. On our last morning we got up early to have a sunrise swim and saw dolphins jumping in the distance! 5 minute walk to the small village of Agia Efirmia which has bars, restaurants, shops and places you can hire boats from etc. For gluten free restaurant choices I would recommend Sea Rock WS and The Paradise Restaurant, they were both very knowledgeable and more than willing to adapt meals to cater for us! Would recommend downloading the coeliac UK Greek translation sheet from the C UK website (saves you having to try and learn it!) *** bring your own beach towels *** no water provided at breakfast so make sure to get some from the supermarkets in town and keep it in your fridge ** bring snorkels! Lots of fish to see :)

Lovely view, cold beer and very welcoming bar man who was very generous. Had a couple of drinks here after spending a day on the beach and couldn’t recommend it more. …………………. …………………. …………………. …………………. …………………. The beach bellow is very rocky but the sea is very nice

My fiancé and I stayed at Gonatas Hotel for a week in early May, and had the most fantastic time! Our room had a balcony with a breathtaking view over the pristine water in the bay at Agia Effimia, the pool was perfect for a dip while looking out over the ocean, and the breakfast buffet was packed with delicious Greek food, including homemade cake each day! But what we were most impressed by was the amazing welcome we were given by the staff! The team always went above and beyond to make sure we had the best holiday, from travel recommendations to making us a packed lunch when we left early one morning for a day trip to Ithaca- we couldn’t have felt more taken care of! The hotel is also in a fantastic location in the small village of Agia Effimia, only an hours drive from the capital Argostoli, but with tonnes of local charm and beauty, and amazing cafes and restaurants right on the water, as well as being in a great location to explore all the island, We could not fault our stay one bit - we will definitely be back!

We visited this hotel 3 years ago and always said we would go back. This tine we had a top floor room which have fantastic views over to Ithika. It was lovely to get up early to watch the sunrise at 6.45am. As the hotel is not linked to any of the major travel companies we booked through ***********. Payment at the hotel on arrival was straight forward. They do arrange taxi service from the hotel if needed. Its a shame we didn't book it through them as its cheaper than taking a taxi from the airport. The one we took from the airport actually broke down near Assos. The cost from the hotel arranged taxi back to the airport was 55 euros. Money well spent . Great driver . We were going to get a car hire for the week but all the companies we tried before we flew out had nothing. You can arrange this before hand with the hotel if needed. Rooms are basic clean and well maintained and I would say probably a 3 star rating. We had a double bed and a single. You have air conditioning and a fridge in your room and plenty of storage. Its a shame you dont have a kettle but you do get a hair drier. Because of the covid situation room changing etc is limited however all you have to do is speak with reception and they can arrange new towels and sheet change etc if needed more than the once change that happens in your week there. We had a lovely balcony with a drier to dry your clothes on too. The hotel is very clean and if Im honest under utilized. You can see from years gone by it catered for the guests, You have a lovely large lounge the obligatory books tv and a bar that isn't used. Their is a lift for the less mobile although you do have a steep slopped drive to the hotel grounds and steps into the hotel. Wheel chair users would struggle.. On the lower floor you have the dining area but like I said that was from days gone by and not used as well as the large fully equipped kitchen. It was in operation 3 years ago when the hotel at that time was designated bead and breakfast. For me I would of paid extra for these facilities as previously you had a great choice of breakfast and could get extra as during the day like chips pizza etc. You do have a pool bar which service up great snacks drinks etc which I will review separately. The Hotel pool area and gardens are well kept and clean. You have an indoor wc at reception one by the pool as well as out door shower. The hotel needs to be bought back to its full potential of days gone by as you have everything there for it .A bit of modernising and reopening of the kitchen dinning area and bar would be a great addition. Also please get that old fountain back to its former glory , it is such a sad thing to see it not in full flow. That said you do have a great independent pool bar. Would I recommend this hotel , hell yes I would. It wouldn't suit all but as a basic clean friendly hotel In a great location with friendly helpful staff and a fantastic pool bar what more could you as for at a reasonable price too. Yamma

Prachtig groot gebouw met groot restaurant. Daar gebruikten wij het ontbijt. Ruime keus aan broodjes en beleg. We hadden kamer 18 op de begane grond met een terras. Redelijke grote kamer. Douche met douchegordijn waar we nooit vrolijk van worden. De eigenaresse was zeer hartelijk. Het zwembad was behorlijk groot met voldoende ligbedden. Er was schaduw genoeg. De poolbar is open vanaf 12 uur totdat de laatste gast weggaat. Aardige en gastvrije barman.

Из положительного это хорошее расположение, вот в принципе все. Отель покрасили к сезону ещё, но комнаты со старой мебелью и душ в чёрной плесени. Кровати не двуспальные, а 1,4метра, нам вдвоём было тесно. Когда кто-то переворачивается матрас ходит ходуном и будит соседа. Кровать очень жёсткая, а подушки ватные, но мягкие. Мы из-за кровати просто мучились все 6 ночей, ждали уже выезда. Интернет не очень, пользовались своим Зона бассейна очень уставшая, вся мебель старая, плитка отвалилась. И самое главное бассейн плохо чистят, два дня плавал огромный дохлый таракан, цикады и листья. Потом видела как таракана выловили гости. И самое гадкое это жирная плитка по краю от крема для солнца, не знаю сколько они ее не мыли В баре нет меню коктейлей и бармен на такой вопрос почему то разозлился, увы и его пиноколада на дешёвом соке никик не стоила 10евро Если вы думаете наслаждаться красивым видом с балкона забудьте, в отеле нет перегородок между балконами,, вы будете сидеть вместе с соседями Персонал не очень приятный, кроме девушки на завтраке. Завтраки средние, из плюсов натуральный апельсиновый сок, но стаканы все были разные Вообщем полное разочарование, не стоит своих денег (120евро ночь)
