Hotel Balaia Mar

EXCUSE CAPS IM PARTIALLY BLIND. I HAVE TO SAY I WASNT SURE WHAT TO EXPECT BUT ITS LOVELY AND QUIET. I WENT IN JUNETO FULLFILL SOMETHING OFF MY BUCKETG LIST, I HAD PLANNED THIS 10 YEARS AGO BUT UNFIORTUNATLY COULD BOOK AS I WAS WAS DIAGNOSED WITH STAGE 4 CANCER. THE DOLPHNE INTERACTION WAS AMAZING IF YOU DO PREMIUM YOU GET A USB WITH VID ALSO A LOVELY PICTURE. I WANTED TO GO BACK THE THE BEACH WAS TOO FAR TO WLAK EVERYDOY. THE FOOD IN THE HOTEL I CANT REALY COMMENT AS IT WAS HOT DOGS HAMBURGERS AND PIZZA. NOON OF THEM I EAT. SO THAT PUT ME OFF HAVING AN EVENING MEAL. RESTURANTS IF YIU DRIVE ARE CLOSE. BUT YET FOR ME ANOTHER HARD SLOG.. THE RECEP STAFF WERE AMAZING FUNNY HELPFULL.VERY CLEAN HOTEL. 2/3 POOLS LOVELY GROUNDS PRETTY LUSH. I DEFIANTLY WOULD GO BACK BUT WOULD NEED TO KNOW WHERE AND HOW FAR THE OTHER BEACH . SHOP 2 MINS SPA ETC..PRICES CAN BE THE SAME AS UK BUT MOST ARE A KITTLE CHEAPER AND ALWAYS A RESTURANT THAT DOES EVENING MEAL DEALS, NOW IM NOT UP ON KL AM AN OLD SCHOOL. I LOVE WALKING MAYBE 10 15 BUT NO LONGER. DOES ANY ONE KNOW HOW FAR IN MINUTES IS 0.6M? WE ARE ALOS PARTIALLY BLIND SO STAYING ON A BEACH WOULD HAVE TO GET BY DUSK. I recently stayed at this hotel in Albufeira, it was a great experience all round. The hotel staff were lovely and very helpful 😊. The rooms were good and cleaned well. Everything you needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. I would definitely return and recommend it to other 👍

ok hotel for a week. the room was cleaned every day, but the cleaning was average. the pool was nice, but the "pool rules" were not followed, and the staff didn't care unless you brought drinks from the shop, then we were told that this was not allowed. otherwise it was a perfectly fine hotel room, partially helpful at the reception and otherwise kind waiters

Our stay at Balaia Mar could not be faulted, we thoroughly enjoyed our first stay in Portugal and will definitely return to Balaia. It holds a special place in our hearts as we got engaged here. Upon our late arrival we were greeted by a very friendly gentleman who we unfortunately didn’t get the name of, but he was thorough in explaining to us how the hotel worked and walked us up to our room, returning without fuss when we had problems figuring out the aircon. Other reception staff were kind also throughout our stay, offering to book us a taxi and leave our suitcases with them until our transfer. Our room was spacious and overlooked the pool, surrounded by beautiful trees abundant with birds who we enjoyed seeing on our balcony for the whole trip. The room came with all of the amenities we required and was very comfortable. We were fortunate to stay at a quiet time and had the smaller pool to ourselves each morning for a swim and sunbathe. There was also easy access to Praia Maria Luisa so we could go to the beach when we pleased. When visiting the hotel restaurant we were lucky enough to be served by Volodymyr who always showed us a friendly smile and had great banter, he went above and beyond to provide us great service, allowing us to grab some breakfast after closing one morning and telling us about some nice places to visit, a top guy. Other restaurant staff were friendly and attentive to our needs also. Overall we had a brilliant stay and will definitely return here, I cannot think of anywhere else we would like to stay more in Portugal than here. Thank you so much!

The Hotel is clean and the food adequate. Our stay was spoiled by an avoidable incident. My wife paid a deposit for two pool towels. On returning them, the receptionist refused to return the payment as apparently it is not procedure to ask for a cash deposit. The 20€ is not really the issue as we were going to use it to tip the restaurant staff. The fact that management chose not to believe her was unfortunate.

We are on our last day at the Balaia Mar and I just needed to write a review to say what an amazing value hotel. We stayed in one of the standard rooms, they have a really good sized patio, nice view, fresh linen every day and a great shower. You also get a kettle and fridge. Security safe. The hotel communal areas and rooms are spotlessly clean. The bathrooms seemed to have been recently renovated. This was a budget break for us, and we used the hotel as a base really to explore from (we only did one pool day) but it exceeded all my expectations. The bar at night was not the busiest, maybe in the summer it would be. We didn’t use it much as we ate up the road or in the old town. Luisa Beach is 5 mins away but I recommend getting an Uber to other beaches if you want more of a beach bar vibe. We had breakfast at the cafe at the top of the hill (turn right from the hotel, 8 mins walk) which did freshly squeezed orange juice. English tea of course lol. In this area also are some grill restaurants, Thai restaurant and a couple of curry houses. There is a spar supermarket opposite the hotel but it’s expensive. Like €4 for teabags?! The pool is perfect, not heated but small enough to be pleasantly warmed by the sun (and this was in April!) sun-beds plentiful and comfortable. The gardens are really lovely, palm trees and pergolas. Breakfast in the hotel is great. Not English sausages but decent bacon, eggs, sausage, as much toast and continental selection as you like. Restaurant staff very pleasant. From the airport this hotel takes 35 mins in a taxi. All friendly and welcoming. Air con absolutely ten out of ten. If you’re thinking of booking I can’t recommend this hotel enough.
