Sunshine Sanctuary Boutique Jungle Lodge

Beautiful views and nice balcony Rooms need fans in bathrooms and bedrooms. In our room the air conditioning was leaking on the television. Television did not work this wasn’t a problem for us but might be for someone else. This hotel has good access to beautiful falls if you like a little hike down and back about 20 minutes down to the falls. You will have to take a taxi to town if you’re not good to walk. The hike back to the hotel is very steep.

Interesting place to stay with one access via a footbridge! Large clean room with balcony (beware of monkeys if you leave anything outside!). View of valley & ocean. Sml pool to cool off in. Good breakfast served on the roof top terrace overlooking the valley & ocean & plenty of wildlife to see at the same time. Very helpful owner. Parking available. Bonus: Short walk to the top of the waterfall for a swim & great brewery by the entrance for food & drinks. Only downside its partway up a very steep hill if visiting the town.

I found a dead lizard in my room. Another lizard kept coming into my room from the heat exchange housing. There was construction on the property from 7AM-4PM everyday. And the walls definitely were not sound proofed.

GOOD Spectacular view, over the canopy and the ocean Small fridge in the room (was missing an ice cube tray though) Small metal table and 2 chairs on balcony BAD Mattress - like laying on a carpeted floor, horrible!!! Pillows - cheap foam filled ones, horrible!! Curtains - just filtered light (no darkening or thermal barrier) which made the room very hot and bright A/C - could barely keep up TV - did not work The hotel is up on a very long, steep hill, so be prepared for a long climb or take a taxi (5000 colones)

Sunshine Sanctuary in Montezuma, Costa Rica, is an absolute nirvanic paradise. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting a**osphere. The room and bathroom were spotless, and the beautiful art and decor were a delight. Everything I needed was included in the room: a safe, television, mini fridge, and cold, crisp water. My favorite part of my room was my private balcony, immersed in the jungle and overlooking the ocean; it left me breathless as I took in the beauty and wildlife around me! The highlight of my mornings was the delicious daily breakfast and coffee—the variety of options and fresh, locally sourced ingredients made waking up a delightful experience. The aromatic coffee topped with cinnamon perfectly complemented the scrumptious breakfast, setting the tone for a day filled with exploration and adventure. One of the most memorable experiences was the gorgeous hike to a stunning waterfall. The sanctuary's location amidst lush rainforests provided the perfect backdrop for this awe-inspiring trek. The breathtaking cascade and refreshing pool at the end of the hike were unforgettable, and I cherished every moment of jumping into the pool and connecting with nature's beauty. Another highlight of the sanctuary is Panorama, the open-air bar overlooking the jungle and ocean. It offers a tranquil setting to unwind and relish the picturesque scenery. Sipping refreshing beverages while gazing at the panoramic views was a treat for the senses. Last but certainly not least, the Sunshine Sanctuary has a fantastic hanging bridge. This walking bridge provides a unique vantage point to marvel at the surrounding landscapes overlooking the canopy. Sunshine Sanctuary is an oasis of natural wonders and comforts that exceeded all my expectations. It leaves me eager to return and visit with the kind staff and explore even more of its enchanting offerings.

My wife and I recently stayed 6 nights at the Sunshine Sanctuary. There were things that we loved & things we feel would make for a better experience. We Loved… Location is exceptional!! We especially enjoyed breakfasts in the lookout where you felt like you were living in a treehouse with all the animals that CR offers. A variety of daily breakfasts. Rooms are spacious with a great view. Easy trail access to waterfalls. What would’ve made for a better experience… Better quality linens. Towels were a bit thin & rough. The building was under construction so there was no Yoga studio which wasn’t communicated prior to our arrival. Poor Wi-Fi in rooms. The cable service (TV) did not work for the first 4 nights. The room was spacious but lacked hooks to hang bathing suits, etc. A retractable close line in the shower would have been fine. Most importantly…we would definitely stay here again!

I had an awesome experience staying in this beautiful hotel. Ocean view was magnificent. 5 minutes walk to a beautiful waterfall. Hotel is in the middle of jungle , easy to spot wmonkeys and birds. Very friendly and helpful host. Absolutely recommending

This was a very nice place to stay but wasn’t super clean and the breakfast was just a bowl of fruit. But it was very cute and the property was awesome with the bridge and waterfall.

I think there should have been more of an emphasis on the many stairs that one needed to negotiate. Some of us seniors are young at heart, but not in the greatest shape. I for instance could not negotiate the stairs without my husbands help.
