Salisbury Arms Hotel

Stayed in Signature Room . Could not fault the room. The trouble was the food. Stayed for Wedding Anniversary and booked restaurant. Ordered what was described as a Gourmet type burger. Arrived with 14 chips , no salad and very average burger. If it was priced at £8-10 It wouldn’t have bothered me , but at £17 its a overpriced disgrace. Didn’t complain as I didn’t want to wind myself up on what was meant to me a special night.

A large group of us enjoyed some good service and very good food for a special occasion. The recent refurbishment also provided a pleasant and comfortable environment. Unfortunately, the experience didn't warrant a five star review because of one failure on the part of the Salisbury......given the size of our group, we were asked for menu choices several weeks in advance, which we duly provided (and looked forward to). Having eaten our starters, were were informed that the roast chicken - which several of us had pre-ordered - had run out. What is the point of asking for pre-orders weeks in advance? This is basic restaurant school stuff and reflects very poorly on whoever was in charge of the kitchen during our visit.

We hastily had to leave our original (nearby) hotel - no hot water to the shower and poor customer service. We booked into The Salisbury and it was perfect from start to finish. The reception staff were helpful and efficient, The room was very tasteful, comfortable and above all else the shower had hot water (and rituals toiletries- my absolute favourite). The hotel had a welcoming atmosphere throughout our brief stay and our breakfast on the morning of our departure was freshly cooked with an excellent menu choice. My ONLY regret - we didn’t book here for our previous night as well. I thoroughly recommend a stay here.

Spent a Saturday night at the end of March at this lovely hotel/pub. We arrived early and were able to park our car for free in the decent sized car park next to the hotel. A member of staff came out to show us where to go which was really helpful. We checked in at 3 and our room was ready. The room was ideal, a nice big comfy bed, well appointed, beautifully decorated, modern and immaculate. Lovely personal touches which you don’t get in big hotels such as a butler room where you could top up on tea, coffee, milk, water ice and cookies. Our room was at the back of the hotel, nice and quiet which I think helped as this place is right in the centre of town and is very busy. The hotel has a great bar and restaurant, our booking included breakfast the next morning which was also very good. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.

We had a fantastic meal here last week, the service and food were 5 stars. I’d like to give a special mention to the friendly Italian lady, who made us feel really welcome, she is an asset to the team. We can’t wait to visit again soon and try some more things from the menu!

Another excellent stay at the Salisbury Arms, room clean as expected with all required facilities. Additional coffee and milk available in the 'Butlers Room' which saves going to reception. Good choice of options for breakfast, very good full English. Staff friendly and helpful. Already booked for my next visit.

Cracking Sunday roast to celebrate my birthday. Lovely setting where there is a mix of large and smaller spaces which makes the place seem both intimate and also olde worlde Great interior design - modern but reflects historic roots Attentive service without being intrusive

Five of us went for Sunday lunch today . Upon booking we were informed that our table was allocated to us for 2 hours - perfectly ok I thought .We often eat at McMullens pubs with the same time limit and have never had a problem.. Service today was extremely slow. We sat with our dirty plates in front of us after the main course for at least 20 minutes before they were cleared. Dessert then took a long time to be served so I assumed that we would be allowed more than the 2 hours . I WAS WRONG , before we had even finished our second course we were told that our 2 hours were up and that we couldn't have the table any longer as it had been rebooked.It was not our fault that the service was so slow that we were unable to finish a 2 course meal within the alloted time slot. This is totally unacceptable and we definitely won't be returning there again !

Excellent hotel. All newly renovated. I would recommend it to all. Breakfast, included was perfect, good service, friendly staff. The room was very clean and spacious. Bed was very comfortably, lovely bathroom, especially the beautiful deep bath. Hotel was central Hertford, walking out to many restaurants. We will be sure to return , next time we are in UK.
