Flameback Eco Lodge

We stayed here when on a visit to Yala Safari for one night. The lodge was beautiful and the service excellent however, beware of the midges as is it around a large lake and there are No mosquito nets around the bed or around the open air restaurant.

We arrived after the safari and were welcomed by the friendly staff. The accommodation was wonderful and had a great dinner. The tent had airconditioning, which was really needed due to the humid weather. All facilities (shower / toilet) were very clean. We were woken up by the birds… They recommended to get up early to watch the sunrise and join the complementary bird watching tour. What a great recommendation and magical way to start your day. The breakfast that came after was a perfect closing of our visit.

Perfect location, superb food, excellent staff - what else can you ask? The tents are super well equipped, located in front of the lake and close to Yala National Park. The running manager even surprised us with a cake for our honeymoon at dinner, they’re really kind and looking after a perfect customer service. Based on our experience, they achieved it: one of the best hotels we stayed at Sri Lanka (taking into consideration that we stayed overall in different luxury hotels around the island, incl. Jetwing, Amaya, etc).

What a special place this is. From the moment we arrived we knew we had made a good decision staying here. It feels so different from the chain resorts just down the road. Incredibly relaxed, attentive and friendly staff, amazing location right in the middle of the wildlife. We had two lodges as we were a family of 4 and they were well appointed. The food was excellent and there were a number of things the resort offered for free, like a foot massage, complementary cocktail, morning bird watching estate tour etc. We would happily have stayed longer but please remember you are in the natural habit of the monkeys, water buffalo, numerous beautiful birds. This is their home and it’s a privilege to share it with them, if you don’t like wildlife then look elsewhere.

Tent beautiful and so clean! Staff lovely and helpful. We stayed for one night, and enjoyed every minute of it. The tent is superbly set up, lovely big bed, toilet and shower with toiletries. Food was delicious and the staff couldn’t do more for us. We had a lovely cocktail by the bonfire and great food and service in the restaurant.

What an excellent experience! We stayed at Flameback Eco Lodge for 2 nights, and wished we could have stayed for longer. We got the Staffs' undivided attention. The Staff are incredibly professional, friendly and can not do enough to help you. The Chefs were outstanding - the menu caters for Western tastes, however if you ask him to cook locally he can let his colours shine and produce some exceptionally tasty curries and condiments if you can handle the spice. The setting of Flameback Eco Lodge is on the lake shore and boasts a stunning array of wildlife in and around the the lodges (mongooses, water birds, monkeys, eagles. If you want to go further a field the hotel can arrange for dawn/dusk/all day Safaris to seek wildlife in the National Parks (leopard, elephants, buffalo, jungle fowl.....) The pictures displayed really are exactly what you can expect to get. As expected accommodation is modern, clean, tidy and full of personal touches. You will be spoil for choices of where you can dine (in your tent/private floating pod/communal terrace). The tents are very spacious excellently air conditioned, and feature immaculate fully plumbed bathrooms. We can't give enough praise and thanks to the team for making an especially memorable stay at Flameback Eco Lodge. I recommend bringing a decent camera and pair of binoculars with you! We had an incredible stay at Flameback Lodge! My family and I were thoroughly impressed by the exceptional service, warm hospitality, and stunning surroundings. The lodge manager Ishan, naturalist Chami, the Chef, and the restaurant staff were all kind, professional, and went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. The lodge itself was comfortable, spotlessly clean, and well-equipped with modern amenities, including full air conditioning. We thoroughly enjoyed the two Sri Lankan dinners we had during our stay - the food was delicious! The birdwatching experience was a highlight, with Chami's expertise and enthusiasm making it a truly unforgettable experience. The lodge's peaceful atmosphere and beautiful surroundings only added to our relaxation and enjoyment. We highly recommend Flameback Lodge to anyone seeking a wonderful and memorable stay in a stunning natural setting. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so special!

This place is wonderful. The accommodation (gramping) was unexpectadly well setup. Fans in the rooms is all i expected, but there was an ac too! Pool fantastic with full sun or shade option. Grounds pleasant. Staff really friendly and helpful. Special shout out to the receptionist (female - sorry dont know her name), and Wasante our waiter for breaky and dinner. This is a very well run business, the staff are knowledgeable and polite, nothing was too much trouble. I have been running culinary and cultural tours to Sri Lanka since 2012 and this is the first time I stayed in this hotel, it won't be the last! Wonderful setting, food and service. The early morning birdwatching tour is highly recommended. Well done everyone! I am looking forward to staying with you again.
