Hotel Rappen

I loved this little hotel! The location ideal, small but enough space, AC worked wonderfully for warm days and staff was lovely and accommodating. My daughter was studying for the summer in Freiburg and this hotel was perfect to spend some time with her as her student apar**ent was a 5 minute walk. Those that are complaining about the alley entrance are being snobs because it was safe and saved you from having to walk through the restaurant to get to the elevators. I stayed here twice in the month of July and would pick it again in a heartbeat.

Wonderful hotel—all the modern amenities in the room but inside a charming traditional hotel. The staff were all amazing, especially Elisa and Traudi (so?) who went above and beyond to welcome us. Great location across the square from the cathedral.

We visited Frieberg and stayed at the Hotel Rappen. Location was amazing - the cathedral was opposite our hotel with a charming market square. Shops, bars and restaurants all within walking distance and Black Forest backdrop too. Public transport links were excellent. The hotel itself had wonderful staff that couldn’t do enough for you. Breakfast buffet of both hot and cold dishes and even a glass of wine if you wanted it. Room was serviced every day and spotlessly clean. Would definitely recommend if you are heading to Frieberg for the Chris**as markets.

The hotel staff are very welcoming, very friendly and professional service. We had excellent dinner and breakfast. The room was modern , clean and comfortable. The soundproof windows are brilliant for keeping the noise down. Highly recommended

Exceptionally clean and comfortable hotel and terrific, super-friendly staff. And quiet. There was an unbelievably loud wine festival in the Cathedral square (Munsterplatz) and a baby across the hall and we didn’t hear a thing in our rooms. Plus outstanding location right across from the cathedral. Tip: inexpensive food and fruit in the market right outside the door except on Sundays. Only downside was no refrigerator for those like us who like to keep snacks and food for picnic outings in our rooms.

Great boutique hotel in the perfect location. Daily farmers market in the platz directly outside hotel. Staff and restaurant were equally fabulous. Highly recommend this hotel and city. Freiburg is one of the best kept secrets of Germany and Europe. We will be back

An excellent recommendation from friends who are locals. We booked a room with a view of the Münster and stayed 3 nights to explore the Freiburg Altstadt and the surrounding area. Lovely view of the church, overlooking the daily market. Room was quiet, despite the busy square below and the church bells, as it had well-insulated windows and good air-conditioning. Super comfortable bed and shower. Beautiful, modern-twist decor that complemented the historical hotel well. Staff was friendly, relaxed, helpful. We opted for inclusive breakfast and were happy to start out the day at a relaxing and generous table. Fresh pressed juices, cheeses, eggs, lox, hams, bircher müsli, yogurt, berries, various breads/pastries, coffees, teas. Had dinner in the hotel one night and were very pleased with our meal - seasonal fare and nice local wines. Really enjoyable stay.

Our room was huge. The staff were excellent. Their restaurant was the best! Centrally located. Highly recommend!

A lovely hotel right in the city centre opposite the cathedral. Very comfortable and clean room. The cathedral clock does chime all night, and the market sets up very early, so if a quiet night is important then it may not be the hotel for you! However we found it very charming to wake up to cathedral bells and a bustling market. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Would not hesitate to recommend.
