Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island

We have just returned from the most amazing two weeks in paradise on earth. Spacious stunning villa for five of us - plenty of space and more to live there forever if you want to! The island is truly spectacular, you feel like you are a castaway except your every need is catered for. Deserted white beaches, sea turtles, jungle pathways by bike and roaming wild giant tortoises (the stars of the show!) we so enjoyed feeding them and stroking them as they are very tame with humans. A real treat. The staff are incredible at this hotel. So friendly and welcoming - exceptional personal service and we truly felt like we had made friends during our two week stay. Of special mention (although everyone was first class) our restaurant waiter Abraam who made us laugh every meal time and was a true professional, Tony our wonderful butler who looked after us beautifully, and Rohan (Marketing team) who was so welcoming and friendly every time we saw him. These people and all the staff really enhanced our stay. This place is a cut above the rest. If you get the chance to visit Paradise don’t hesitate!!

We are just coming back from a 4 night stay at FS Desroches… the only bad thing about our stay… it was too short! Since the arrival the wonderful hotel staff awaits you with a buggy and a smile on their face to bring you to your villa. After a small island tour you finish the registration process in your villa. Location: Fantastic! Just a 35 minute flight from Mahe (I recommend to stay at FS Mahe, too before or after, see my evaluation) your arrive at Desroches island where FS is the only hotel and in the other side of the island some private villas are located. There are several incredible beaches, some for relaxing, some more for snorkeling. We loved the Madame Zabre and Aquarium beach most as well as the Sunset beach. Every morning the FS recommends the top two beaches of the day (can change from one day to another regarding the weather). The complete island is top maintained, beautiful palms, flotation and probably (together with Mahe) the most beautiful beaches we have ever seen. Being at the beaches, that you can reach by your private bicycle or with the golf cart, feels like being in paradise. Crystal clear water, white sand beaches and the great panorama. Resort: There are three restaurants, all of them are great! During our stay I assume that the half resort was occupied so every night two of the three restaurants are open. I can recommend all of them! I had the best Aubergine steak at Lighthouse and the best Sushi at Deli! The garlic chili shrimps rolls are the best I ever tasted! The main pool is located close to deli and a lauding where lunch is served. They have a great activity team at Castaway Center. You can have snorkeling gear for free every day and we loved our first scuba dive here! We booked the All Inclusive Packer before and really liked it, huge variety of drinks are included as well as wines, beers and daily mini bar refill, as well as all the dishes in the restaurants. One special thing about the resort is the star gazing experience at the airstrip, we did not believe that it would have been so amazing! Villas: Just fantastic! We had the sunset view villa and loved it! We have stayed at many FS and other luxury hotels with private villas, but we loved this one most! Direct access to the beautiful sunset beach, huge garden with a nice pavilion and huge private pool and an almost new villa with huge sealing and a great bathroom. Choosing between the villa and the beaches was probably the hardest decisions those 5 days. Service: Almost all the FS we stayed at are usually located in very special places (Sayan, Ten Trinity, Jimbaran, Mauritius, Mahe, Serengeti) and some of them offer from the”lowest category” only private pool villas (Mauritius, Desroches, Mahe, Jimbaran) so it’s really hard to say, what’s the best FS? So the game changer are the people! Specially at Desroches we felt so appreciated from ALL the staff! Our stay at Four Seasons Desroches Island was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this was a truly unique destination, where nature and luxury harmoniously come together to create an unforgettable experience. Located on a remote island, Desroches presents logistical challenges that must be immense, but you would never know it as a guest. Everything ran so seamlessly, as though the pristine beaches, perfect accommodations, and outstanding service appeared effortlessly-an immense testament to the professionalism and dedication of the team. The personalized welcome we received set the tone for our entire stay. Knowing we were coming from another Four Seasons property, the team thoughtfully prepared a beautiful cake adorned with a cheetah cub to commemorate the first animal we encountered in the Serengeti. This surprise was even more meaningful because my best friend is passionate about baking, and the care the team put into this gesture touched us deeply. Special thanks to Budi, Joseph, Ali, and Christian, whose warmth and attention to detail ensured every part of our experience felt unique and personal. Christian, in particular, made our island experience even richer. His passion for the island’s heritage, combined with his expertise as a guide, offered us unique insights into its culture and natural beauty. From leading an enlightening island tour to introducing us to its conservation efforts, Christian’s stories brought Desroches to life and helped us connect more deeply with this remarkable place. The culinary experience was extraordinary. From breakfast to dinner, every meal exceeded our expectations. The dishes were not only expertly crafted but also celebrated the island’s flavors in an innovative and delicious way. Whether dining in the main restaurant, enjoying a dinner at the lighthouse, or tasting freshly caught seafood, each bite reflected the skill and care of the culinary team. Desroches is a paradise of natural beauty, with so much to explore. The property provides bicycles for guests to get around the island, and this immediately became one of our favorite aspects of the stay. Each morning, we set off to discover the island's many pristine beaches-each one feeling like our private oasis. From soft sands to azure waters, every beach we visited felt untouched and breathtaking. The island tour offered a fascinating glimpse into its diverse landscapes and its conservation efforts. One of the highlights was meeting and feeding the gigantic tortoises, whose slow majesty adds an ancient charm to the island. The conservation work done here, especially in preserving the local wildlife and natural resources, is incredibly commendable and added a sense of purpose to our stay. The activities available on the island were also exceptional. From snorkeling to cooking classes, each experience allowed us to feel immersed in the beauty of our surroundings. An absolutely outstanding experience. We stayed for almost 2 weeks and were truly sad to leave. But we've already booked for next year! Budi and his team run a flawless service. Our room was beautiful, spacious and perfectly cleaned throughout our stay. For us, what made this the most outstanding hotel of the many we have stayed at in the Seychelles was the superb food and flawless service. Other hotels often fail here. We also had an island tour and were impressed that the hotel is using extensive solar power and growing a lot of fruit and veg. The papaya is the best we have ever tasted. This resort is 100% classic Four Seasons. The grounds are beautiful, the food excellent, the service outstanding. Anything you want or need, anytime, are yours with a quick text to the front desk. The villas are outstanding. Spacious, beautifully appointed, with amazing private pools with cabanas and beach access. Transportation on the island( and the resort guests have access to the whole thing, including several beaches that are stocked with water, towels, toys, and bathrooms) is only by bike or golf cart. This leads to a relaxed and quiet atmosphere that lends itself to as much activity or lack thereof that you could want. The staff are universally perfect at the balance between friendly and elevated, and the vibe here is familial and easygoing while at the same time fully inclusive of the FS attention to detail and expectation of service to the guest. The resort tour with the naturalist is fantastic, as are the surfing staff. The resort is equally amazing for couples and families with small children. This is a special place that I truly can't say enough about. We will absolutely return here, without hesitation!

Where do I start ! My partner and I are still floating around on Cloud 9 after our stay at The Four Seasons at Deroches Island. We both travel a lot , and we can honestly say that our stay at Deroches was one of the most inspirational and perfect stays we have ever experienced. I will try and keep my points as concise as possible but its difficult not to wax lyrical about everything ! 1) the service from the entire FS Deroches team was impeccable. Being in the service industry myself, I could immediately see that the FS have an impeccable training program , installing the most beautiful values in their workforce. This is evident loud and clear when coming into contact with any of the FS staff, no matter what the area. I did not take everyone's names but Budi , the resort manager was simply amazing. You can see that the entire team love working with him and he runs a super tight ship in resort. Also Evgeny , the F&B manager was fabulous and ensured that all our eating experiences were perfect. I am the pain of the couple as I'm a vegan ! However Evgeny and his team could not do enough for me and ensured I was looked after at all times. I felt very grateful indeed. 2) The restaurants and facilities at Deroches are superb. Meticulously looked after. The highlight for my husband and I was our evening at the Lighthouse. Absolutely stunning. Pre-drinks at the bar upstairs followed by dinner outside amongst all the Shearwater birds talking to us ! We absolutely loved it. 3) Deroches Island itself was pure paradise for my husband and I. It is beautifully looked after and roads were perfect to cycle around. We loved the fact we were free to cycle to every corner of the island , safely and each road led to the most beautiful beach and coast line. Although FS is a 5star resort , the way the resort is submersed into the beauty of the island and doesn't radiate any obvious commercialism is perfect. Our only regret is that we didn't stay long enough and we are already planning to return as soon as we can. WELL DONE and HUGE THANK YOU to the entire FS Deroches Team.
