Riu Palace Kukulkan - Adults Only - All Inclusive

The property was nice..The food was just so so. The link where i was supposed to get my voucher for transportation went to spam, so we had to pay for a cab both ways from airport. The beds were really hard. Ive stayed at RIU before, but it seamed the food went down hill. The beach, pool, and wait staff were awesome. Bartenders were just so so...The RIU party was a lot of fun. .

I loved the vibe of the lobby bar. The food was very good. It was better than I expected and it was easy to get reservations. We were travelling with a large group and the staff was very accommodating. The property was very clean and beautiful

We stayed at the resort for a long weekend to escape the cold of the east coast. The facilities were very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. The grounds were beautifully landscaped . The food was average (nothing super spectacular). There were plenty of bars around - so no long lines waiting for drinks. The hotel was conveniently located in the hotel district - and we could walk to shops and restaurants . The only complaint I have was the check-in process is very long and the "free" transportation was not worth the wait (just uber)

We have been to other Riu properties and had great experiences. We will definitely not come back. Upon arrival when checking in with our friends. We were offered to upgrade to the Elite club ($$) and when we said yes, they told us they did not have a room available for 3 days and that our friends got the upgrade room. We had a beautiful corner room on the 9th floor that had an amazing view. We asked if we could just stay while still willing to pay the upgrade. They would not accommodate our request. So we were required to pack up after 3 nights, and move to what I consider one of the worst views on the property. FYI there is nothing different about the Elite rooms except better booze. The elite pool was not a perk. The server Coco was slow and rude when we used the self-serve beverage cart that was parked at the pool. The supervisor (Brenda) berated us for using the cart. Poolside food was limited at best. every day was hotdogs and hamburgers. Drinks were poorly made and brand choices were limited. One perk we found was on our last night at the Elite restaurant where we had the best food during our entire stay. We ended up going off-property a few times for good food and beverages. Activities were lame. Staff promptly stopped water volleyball while we were still playing saying time is up. The other pool with a bar had about 2 feet of water. Riu parties also were not even on the property and had to take a bus. Overall the staff seems unhappy and nonengaging with guests.

Service could be better.Staff were friendly but not well trained. Food is not good. Only buffet is open for lunch. Many dishes are too salty. The best item we had was edamame (you just can't mess up with this dish). Cups were not clean in restaurants. Walking distance to shopping malls. Beach is great. VIP access got us nothing.

Friendly staff and very clean. If you travel with a group of 6 or more, you’ll want to upgrade to Elite Club in order to make dinner reservations. The restaurants are small.

It was a wonderful stay ...spur the moment trip ..very safe, beautiful, and the staff was excellent. Would go back again in a heartbeat.

Amazing resort. Everyone was so friendly. The dinner restaurants could have been a little tastier but the Elite restaurant and upgrade was worth the money!

The property was smaller than others I’ve stayed at which made it nice because you didn’t have to walk a mile to get to stuff. Property was clean and staff was great. If you wanted to participate in the themed parties at the other Riu they shuttled you which was a bonus! The only caution is the double beds felt closer to twins. Each year me and 2 of my girlfriends book a room with 2 double beds and swap out who has to share, sharing was not an option in these and we had to take turns contorting ourselves to fit on the small loveseat. Now we know so we can plan appropriately next time. Would definitely go back!
