Best Western Buckingham Hotel

Great location and easy access to the M1 - stayed as a last minute -thing as needed a short stop off. Staff are really friendly and welcoming. The Hotel has a swimming pool which made a nice surprise and was great to have a quick swim before hitting my 4 hour drive.

This is one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in and it was booked as a treat for my partner’s birthday. I should have realised before we arrived as phoned five times to get booking confirmation and a copy of the menu sent to me but to no avail. Plus the second time I phoned they said I hadn’t booked and I had to book again. Then on the day of arrival I was phoned to ask why I had two bookings. On arrival, waited for about five minutes while the receptionist was on the phone and wasn’t acknowledged even with a smile. I was asked to put £50 deposit which wasn’t stated at the time of booking. Was given key and made our way to the room through weird smelling corridors. Nothing in the room made it welcoming. It was dingy and awful. We had a look at the pool as planned to swim. It looked okay but there were no loungers around it so not the sort of place you could relax in. In the evening we had dinner in the hotel restaurant which had no a**osphere whatsoever. On arrival we were told to sit anywhere we liked so we did. Then we got told to ‘shift’ by a waitress as we weren’t sitting in the right area. Food arrived which was okay but you’d expect a bit more effort for the price. Drinks were expensive too. Didn’t have a good night’s sleep and in the morning I told the duty manager we were checking out early as the hotel was not good. No way was I going to subject my partner to this horror on his birthday. The manager did not ask one question about the reasons we wanted to leave which was shocking. An awful hotel with staff who just don’t seem to care.

Arrived, told a fifty pound hold on my card, for any damages or overspends. I have a company that books and I get an allowance, and I'm certainly not a rowdy drunk who will smash up the room. Room dated hairs all over the bath. Fusty smell all over hotel. Yet to see a member of staff smile or be pleasant and look like they enjoy working there. Food Average, limited menu. Breakfast. Asked for a bag as set off early for work. Received a small bacon sandwich on white thin bread, two picnic bars and a small orange drink. Gym OK very dated but useable Never went in swimming pool. All in all rang my company as never will stop there or Amy best western again. Wouldn't put my dogs in it

Fantastic stay . Was visiting for 2 nights on coach trip for fairford airshow. Hotel was very friendly staff fantastic and food also brilliant. We visit again . Highly recommended. Great location for visiting places. Great hotel loved it .

Return my £50 deposit please! Dated hotel with no air con an no fridge. Uncomfy beds, food was ok but served mash and beans both nights please mix it up. Some staff were nice but 1 man in particular was miserable and didn’t want to be there. All in all won’t be back. U get what u pay for. The £50 deposit was very annoying and I still haven’t had it back so will be on the phone or getting my credit card company to get it back.

I found the staff at this hotel very rude from the day i booked in to the day i left, With one exception the young lady in the restaurant with the long braided hair. Despite the fact it had been booked by my company with all bills to be paid for by them (within expenses allowance) the staff there still insisted that the £50.00 retainer was paid up front, they then tried to charge me every time i used the restaurant even though i explained meals were to go onto the room. they even then tried to charge me again on day of departure to my card that was used for the retainer. The room was a fair size to be honest, but nothing worked properly, the shower head was ineffective, the toilet flush, the hand soap dispenser, the kettle ,tv remote and the bed was far from comfortable i have stayed in hotels near airports that were also a lot quieter, being on the main road sleep was far from refreshing. I am not one to normally complain so i over looked most of it , the flush i was able to get it to function after a fashion but i feel i need to warn other who may be less agreeable with any of the above. i am yet to check my account to see if the £50.00 retainer has been cancelled, but i will be.

No cleaning of the room or replacing towels at three nights. Plastic bedding that is really poor. Coffee for breakfast was thin and undrinkable. When complaining to staff, they agreed that the coffee was miserable, but the reaction was to remove the coffee and refer to taking instant coffee.

Not fancy, but bright, clean and welcoming. Room was huge, as was the very comfy bed. Excellent value for money, including dinner which we tried one night. Staff were great. Few frills, but none were expected. We needed a welcoming bolt-hole for three nights, and this was it.

Paper cups, wooden stirrers - as found in a takeaway - no toiletries. As found in a £150 per night suite. No other extras. Bottom sheet did not fit, double duvet on a king-size bed. Reception was frosty, ignorant and most unhelpful. Instead of staying 3 nights we moved out after the second. Enough said.
