Hotel Gulden Vlies

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights for my partners birthday week away. The hotel building was absolutely beautiful, real lovely old building. The lady who runs the hotel was very helpful land polite, the room was great, lovely high ceilings, lots of storage and the bed was so comfy! The breakfast room is great, it appears to the the converted lounge of the building, the continental spread they lay on is massive and is all very fresh and tasty. Also, they have a lovely little touch where they play nice easy listening music over the speakers whilst you are in there and creates a lovely relaxed vibe. The location is not even 5mins walk from the free city shuttle bus. So location is great too, TBF you can walk to centre in under 10mins. Just a couple of things to note. You cannot wear shoes upstairs and they have to be left at the reception or taken up with you. We had no issue with this :) The direct area around the hotel, the shops and amenities to appear to close rather early (by UK standards) So just be aware of that Overall, I cannot really fault this hotel on anything Would definitely recommend :)

I felt ripped off how much we paid for what we had! For sure this is a b&b not an hotel because it is a private house with some rooms. We asked for a low level room as it was clear from the reviews to avoid the huge amount of stairs. The room was definitely the worst part of the stay. It was dark, in a basement, humidity I could feel the bedsheets wet when in bed. In hot days like these we had a fan broken and dangerous without the protective cover. The shower was a cubicle with a stained tent. The toilet had a broken sliding doors. The pillows of the single beds small and very uncomfortable mattresses. The breakfast ok, much less than expected from the reviews. How people can give 5 stars?

The hotel is in a great location for going into the historic centre of Bruges or for visiting Ipres or Ghent. The owner is very helpful and friendly and the variety of food offered for breakfast is amazing. There is no air conditioning but were were given a fan which kept the room very cool. It is in an old building and the decor is in keeping with the period and feels very welcoming. My wife and I were very happy with our stay and have no hesitation in giving 5 stars.

Lovely little hotel in an old town house. Clean and quiet, a short walk from the city centre, with a proper Belgian friture just down the road. It's more like staying in the home of a polyglot artist who you imagine holding regular salons discussing Sartre and Magritte. Excellent breakfast included. Bring your own slippers if you'd rather not wear the slip-ons provided.

Fleur contacted us a couple of days before arrival to ensure she could meet us at the property with a friendly and informative welcome. Beautiful building, completely unique full of interesting ornaments and goodies! We had a family room with one enormous bed and another double for the 2 children. Family rooms are always a bit of a squeeze but the high ceiling made it feel bigger. Breakfast is included as is complimentary tea and coffee. The breakfast was a real treat, a lovely spread of pastries, interesting fruits, cold cuts, cheese and cereals. It was really lovely to wake up to the smell of fresh pastries every morning. I would definitely stay here again. You could walk into Bruges in about 10/15 minutes and the walk was just beautiful with cafes, shops and restaurants along the way! Nous avons passé un très bon séjour. L'accueil était chaleureux. La chambre et les parties communes étaient très propre. Le lit était grand et ultra confortable, la salle de bain bien équipée. L'hôtel et le quartier sont silencieux. Nous avons pris l'option petit déjeuner que je recommande car il y a du choix et c'était très bon. La localisation est top, nous avons tout fait à pied. Il faut prévoir environ 15min à pied pour rejoindre le centre ville. La rue est interdite au stationnement pour les non-résidents. Il y a la possibilité de se garer à 15min dans des rues gratuites (ce que nous avons fait), où la propriétaire peut vous louer un parking privé. Je recommande à 100% cet hôtel !
