The Boyce Hotel

They were kind enough to let me check in early. The b&b is close to everything (winter gardens, prom, tower etc) based on Vance Road. I didn't have the best stay sadly. Single room as booked.... Carpets worn, pillows have had their day were flat, ripped with stuffing coming out and stained!! I went to shop and bought some to use as there ones were not fit to use. The duvet is a summer duvet which in February is useless i was freezing cold overnight as no heating on. Had to phone the owner at 1.30am who did bring me a portable heater. The shower is fine although they've fixed the temperature guage at lukewarm so it can't be turned up or down!! The bottom stair is a hazard as the wood has rotted or something so when you stand on it it caves.... it's dangerous and will be the cause of accidents... it's really not safe!! Also the bannister rail on first set of stairs is becoming loose!!! There is a breakfast room but does not seem to be in use. Person who checked me in didn't mention breakfast either..... Also a bar area which again did not look to be in use. I was disappointed in The Boyce Hotel and will not be returning.

Where do I start: Upon walking into the hotel we were met with an older gentleman who before saying anything gave us the ‘house rules’ which consisted of no food or alcohol in the rooms no buzzing him If we get locked out he would charge us £20 for a wake up charge if we lost a key he would have another £10 and a further £10 deposit if we disturbed this man having his dinner. To me I think this was just him trying to make extra cash from us on the side as I’ve never heard of this before. Took us half an hour wait whilst this man FaceTimed someone called David to ask if the rooms were available for us. Finally getting the keys this man kept going into the faces of the children and trying to whisper in their ears found this very strange and weary of this man. Was then told no breakfast available as the roof has caved in, this was not told to us before arrival. Also the bar and lounge was kept locked and if we wanted it open to call a number and ask this man called David. Made our way to the room to be met with a putrid smell. I had ordered a triple room but tbh this room was just a very small double cluttered with beds and a plastic garden chair. The linen on the beds had clearly been used already as the smell of sweat and must on it was horrific. The beds felt like bricks and had hairs and brown stains on them. The bathroom was diabolical as I entered I was met was extensive amounts of BLACK MOULD and when complained to the older man downstairs was told it was black grout please refer to the pictures I have attached 🤮🤢. The toilet would not flush i was then told David would come she fix it. A young boy appeared at the door wearing no shoes and just trainer socks and a screw driver lifted the cistern and flushed the toilet we were met with a sewage smell in the room the rest of the stay. When we asked to use the lounge the man kept shouting ‘you what’ making us feel on edge and saying no he was having his dinner we couldn’t use the lounge. When we finally got to use he lounge this man was acting as if we had just wronged him in some way he would sit playing candy crush very loudly huffing and puffing at us putting his hands over ears like a child and sighing constantly. This older man actually threatened one of our party with a fight saying he was a black belt and he could ‘lay him out’ all because we complained about the unsanitary environment as we had 4 children with us. I mean how professional. He explained they had 2 cleaners his daughter and a friend and the room I stayed in couldn’t be cleaned due to it because it was on the top floor and they couldn’t make the stairs. Apparently the young boy who I would say was 19 years old owned the hotel and was his grandson was a multi millionaire. This man seemed deluded didn’t really make much sense very unhelpful throughout the stay. He looked unprofessional and acted unprofessional also. When I was checking out I asked for a complaints form this man proceeds to should ‘you what’ I don’t have a form

Outdated, lacked customer service more like been in a prison camp. Staircase broken, floorboards broken and noisy, dead seagulls on rooftop which you can see from your room. Mattress very uncomfortable and stairs broken. Taps on wrong way (cold is hot and hot is cold) very dangerous.

Sewage in shower in my room and then my friends room, pieces of poo floating in shower tray full of brown water. Disgusting. Manager was not bothered. It happens sometimes apparently. And it's normal in Blackpool apparently. Risk your health staying here. So don't go.

I would never stay there again old fashioned springs in bed sticking in me all night no bar open not happy at all pictures not has expected cold pillows marked very dark no breakfast option was told to go round the corner to cafe

Most disgusting hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Cannot believe I was robbed of £60 to stay here Hahahha. Clumps of hair on the bedding almost make me throw up- the photo says it all. Looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in 50 years.

Greeted by the lovely staff on arrival which set our standards high, until we walked up the stairs and got in our room. As we opened the door a strong damp, mouldy smell lingered around the room, you could smell this as soon as you walked in the hotel but got worse when we were in our room. As we went into the bathroom we saw the disgrace it was in as shown in the images below. We booked for 1 night but didn’t even make it through that because of the things listed above. Do not recommend to anyone.

Got exactly what we expected despite some reviews on here. Cheap and cheerful but the staff are extremely friendly, the facilities are great and the rooms were comfy and secure. Shower worked absolute fine and location wise you are very central to everything.

Booked for 5 nights while i was working in blackpool could not complain very clean room which was ensuite it was warm throughout stay next time im over this was ill be staying her was comfort and everything i needed for my works stay away ……………….
