4A Scenic Area Chaka Salt Lake is located in Chaka Town, Ulan County, Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. "Chaka" is a Tibetan word meaning salt pond, and "Dabson Nor" in Mongolian also means sea of blue salt. The average altitude is 3,059 meters, the lake surface area is 105 square kilometers, and the scenic area is 30 square kilometers. It is known as the eastern gate of the Qaidam Basin and the "Mirror of the Sky in China", and is a national 4A tourist attraction. Chaka Salt Lake is famous for its rich "Daqing Salt". It has a mining history of more than 3,000 years. During the War of Resistance Against Japan, Chaka Salt rushed to support the inland and the front line. In the 1950s and 1960s, to support the construction of New China, salt industry people from all over the country jointly built the salt industry production line of New China. After 2008, the scenic area began to innovate the activation and utilization of industrial heritage on the basis of protection, displaying industrial heritage such as century-old railway, locomotive and hopper, power facilities, etc., and developed a 4.8-kilometer tram sightseeing train with a century-old railway, and used a 4.7-kilometer salt mining channel to carry out salt lake cruise sightseeing, fully displaying the industrial culture of the scenic area. Chaka Salt Lake has a small train left from the 1950s, a romantic sky mirror, and an outdoor salt sculpture art group and other iconic attractions.
