Four Days and Three Nights in Jiaxing: The Aftertaste is Strong

Hey guys 👋, I just finished a wonderful four-day, three-night trip to Jiaxing, and I can't wait to share it with you! I really fell in love with this small city full of Jiangnan charm. Every corner is full of surprises. Now I'm going to share my itinerary with you. Follow it and you won't go wrong 👇 🎈Day 1: Arrive in Jiaxing and Visit Yuehe Historic District As soon as I got off the bus, I went straight to Yuehe Historic District, a treasure trove of Jiaxing 💎! The ancient streets and bridges in the district are winding and twisting. Walking on the stone road, you can feel the unique atmosphere of the water town in Jiangnan. There are many small shops on the street, such as retro grocery stores and exquisite handicraft shops. It's fun to visit them one by one. There are also many food stalls. I bought a plum blossom cake, which was steaming hot, sweet, and glutinous. I took a bite and felt full of happiness. It was a wonderful start to my food journey in Jiaxing 🥰. 🎈Day 2: Wuzhen, an Old Dream of Jiangnan I got up early on the second day and went to Wuzhen. I first went to Dongzha to experience the authentic life of the water town. The morning mist had not yet dissipated, and the white walls and black tiles on both sides of the river were looming. The old lady who got up early was washing clothes by the river, and the old man was rowing a small boat. The slow pace of life was like the quiet years. The wood carving museum and folk museum on the street can let you have an in-depth understanding of the history and culture of Wuzhen. Each exhibit tells a story of the past. At night, the night view of Xizha is even more amazing. When the lights are on, the lights are reflected on the water. When you take a boat tour at night, the water waves, the ancient buildings, the long corridors, and the red lanterns on both sides of the river form a beautiful picture. Find a riverside homestay to stay in, and fall asleep to the sound of the gurgling water, as if you were having a gentle old dream of Jiangnan 🛏️. 🎈Day 3: South Lake, Tracing the Footsteps of History In the morning, I came to South Lake, which is not only beautiful in natural scenery but also of great significance. The lake is wide, and the water is green. Take a boat to the island in the middle of the lake. The Yanyu Tower on the island is surrounded by green trees. Standing on the tower, you can have a panoramic view of the beautiful scenery of South Lake. There are also many memorial halls by the lake. The rich historical materials and cultural relics in the halls vividly show the magnificent history. Walking in them, you can truly feel the passion and ideals of the ancestors, and your heart is full of awe. In the afternoon, I went to Xiangjiadang Tourist Resort, which is simply a paradise in the city. There is a vast lake, a large green area, and various amusement facilities. I took a leisurely walk by the lake, basking in the sun and breathing fresh air, which greatly relaxed my body and mind. I also experienced kayaking, galloping on the lake, and the splashing water brought a little coolness, which was very pleasant. 🎈Day 4: Xitang, Jiaxing, the Gentle Fireworks of the World On the last day, I came to Xitang, Jiaxing, where the atmosphere of life is very strong. Walking along the long corridor, there is a mottled stone road under your feet, and an ancient corridor eave above your head. Occasionally, raindrops fall and hit the stone, ticking like an ancient ballad. The bars and teahouses by the river are next to each other. Find a seat by the window, order a cup of tea, watch the people coming and going outside the window, and the small boat slowly passing by, and feel the slow life of Xitang. When night falls, Xitang changes into another look, with red lanterns hanging high and bustling. The street food stalls are full of fragrance. I bought a piece of Xitang's special gorgon cake, which is soft and glutinous, sweet but not greasy. I ate and strolled, taking in the night view of Xitang. 🍱Jiaxing Food Festival Speaking of Jiaxing, you can't miss the food! The first recommendation is Jiaxing meat zongzi. The freshly cooked zongzi is steaming hot. When you peel off the zongzi leaves, the glutinous rice wraps the pork belly with fat and lean meat. The aroma is overwhelming. Take a bite, and the soft and glutinous rice and the tender pork are perfectly integrated. It is simply an enjoyment on the tip of the tongue. There is also Wenthu Sauce Duck, which is red and bright in color, with firm duck meat, salty and delicious, and the more you chew, the more fragrant it is. There is also Jiashan yellow wine, which is not high in alcohol content, but mellow in taste. It is paired with local snacks, which has a unique flavor. 💡Tips: 1. Book your accommodation in advance, especially during holidays. The homestays in Wuzhen and Xitang are very popular. It is recommended to choose a room by the water, which has a better view. 2. The scenic spots in Jiaxing are relatively scattered. You can plan your route in advance and choose the appropriate means of transportation. Buses and taxis are very convenient. 3. When tasting food, pay attention to the amount, otherwise, there will be too much food and your stomach will not be able to hold it. This four-day, three-night trip to Jiaxing allowed me to appreciate the gentleness and delicacy of the water town in Jiangnan, and also feel the profound history and culture.
