Cap Spartel 🇲🇦Where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea

On a recent 3 day trip to Morocco I took a tour to some of the most popular tourist hotspots around Tangier and stopped off for an hour at Cap Spartel. Located 14 km west of Tangier, Cap Spartel , also known as Cap Ampelusium or Cape of Vines, stands over 315 meters above sea level at the entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar,this renowned cape offers a stunning viewpoint dominating the junction where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea. Cap Spartel withstands the relentless force of the seas, symbolising Morocco’s dignified resilience, and is steeped in myth and legend. It is the northwesternmost point of the African continent and below the cape are the Caves of Hercules. Home to Morocco’s oldest lighthouse, the Cap Spartel Promontory features this over 150 year old beacon. The Lighthouse, firmly anchored to the rocks with a tower stretching skyward, stands 25 meters tall from the ground and 95 meters above sea level, serving as a steadfast guardian against the elements. You can climb the spiral staircase and delve into the sites history, from its inception to the present day. At the summit, you can enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree view of the surroundings and observe cargo ships navigating the Strait of Gibraltar. I had a very brief but nice time here and if you don’t want to pay the entrance fee into Cap Spartel Park and Lighthouse , there is also a nice restaurant and gift shop, I did the latter, as i only had an hour being on an organised tour, it’s worth more time and I would definitely like to visit again and have a full day there to explore.
