The Great Buddha of Takaoka

The Great Buddha of Takaoka, located in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture, is said to be one of Japan’s three largest Buddhas, along with the Todaiji Temple’s Great Buddha of Nara, and the Great Buddha of Kamakura in Kanagawa Prefecture. It was completed in 1907 after 26 years of work, and is dubbed “The most beautiful man in Japan” because of its excellent workmanship. This is a must-see in Toyama. In 2024, I want to go to Shizuoka to see the hanging bridge. #2024wish
