The most amazing shrimp 🦐

After living abroad for more than 17 years what I miss most about Norwegian food is fresh shrimp. In Norway we peal the shrimp and most people eat it on an open sandwich with mayonnaise and lemon juice. The most exotic experience is to buy the shrimp off the boat directly. On the island Karmøy where I grew up there is a sign at the main road saying shrimp at the harbor when the shrimp fisher is back from catching shrimp. They will cook and prepare the shrimp on the boat on the way back to shore so that it is ready to be sold directly. You can also buy shrimp at supermarkets. On a trip to Stavanger this summer me and my dad bought shrimp directly from a boat and just sat down on a bench and pealed and ate the shrimp directly. It was so fresh and delicious. A few weeks later I visited a friend in Oslo and she served bread and shrimp with mayonnaise and lemons. Your fingers will get smelly but it is so worth it and part of the experience. #visitnorway #foodie #shrimp #stavanger
