A Hidden Poolside Diner in Singapore You Didn’t Know Was Open to the Public

#springitinerary Tucked away within the grounds of Singapore Polytechnic lies a surprising oasis that feels far removed from the city’s usual bustle. Right next to a glistening pool lined with palm trees and sun umbrellas, there’s a casual diner that’s open to the public—one of those hidden spots you’d only stumble upon if you knew where to look. The Poolside Café at Singapore Polytechnic Graduates' Guild (SPGG) offers a breezy, resort-style vibe that’s perfect for a laid-back lunch or early dinner. Though it’s located inside a school campus, the café welcomes everyone—no student pass or membership required. Just step in, soak up the tropical ambiance, and settle into one of the shaded outdoor tables with a view of the water. We came across this charming spot and decided to try a few of their signatures. The laksa seafood pasta was a standout—spaghetti coated in creamy, spicy laksa sauce and generously topped with prawns, mussels, and squid. It was bold, rich, and packed with that unmistakable laksa aroma. The crispy chicken parmigiana hit the comfort food spot—golden, crunchy breaded chicken topped with tomato sauce and melted cheese, served with fries and greens. Rounding things out, the chicken pinky pasta came with tender grilled chicken and a creamy tomato base that was satisfying without being too heavy. The overall vibe? Relaxed, unpretentious, and almost holiday-like. Whether you're here for a casual meal, a post-swim bite, or just looking for a quiet nook to escape the city’s rush, this poolside hideout at SPGG is a real find. Located just a short walk from Dover MRT, it’s a great dining option you wouldn’t expect to find on a polytechnic campus. But once you’re there—watching the sunlight dance on the pool, fork in hand—you’ll wonder why you didn’t discover it sooner.
