The only Mao Zedong memorial museum in China

The Mao Zedong Memorial Hall in Shaoshan is the only memorial museum in the country that systematically displays Chairman Mao Zedong's life, deeds, thoughts and personality. It is an important base for the study of Mao Zedong's life and Mao Zedong Thought, and a national first-class museum. The memorial is located on the bronze statue square about 500 meters south of Mao Zedong's former residence. The design principle of the memorial is: "rural appearance, urban content". The entire building of the Life Exhibition Hall creatively combines the style of Hunan country farmhouses with the style of Suzhou gardens, combining solemnity, simplicity and beauty. The memorial hall currently has a collection of 63,000 cultural relics and documents, including more than 6,400 relics of Mao Zedong's later years. The memorial includes eight tourist attractions, including the Mao Zedong Memorial Hall, Mao Zedong's former residence, the tomb of Mao Zedong's parents, the south bank of the former site of Mao Zedong's private school, the Mao Clan Ancestral Hall, the Mao Jiangong Temple, the Mao Zhengong Temple, and the statue of Mao Zedong in his youth. The Shaoshan Comrade Mao Zedong Memorial Hall is divided into two exhibition areas: life exhibition and special exhibition. The life exhibition area covers more than 5,000 square meters, with the theme of "China Has Produced Mao Zedong", and reflects Mao Zedong's life and glorious achievements through nine sections. The exhibition is divided into sections: 1. Determined to Save the Country and the People; 2. Participating in the Founding of the Party and Leading the Workers' and Peasants' Movement; 3. Opening up a New Road for China's Revolution; 4. Striving for the Great Victory of the People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression; 5. Winning the Victory of the War of Liberation; 6. Founding the People's Republic of China; 7. Establishing the Basic Socialist System; 8. Exploring China's Path of Socialist Construction; and 9. Laying the Foundation for Socialist Modernization. The exhibition mainly consists of pictures, real objects and documentary materials, with a total of 1,173 exhibits, including 198 real objects, 571 photos and 404 documents. Through precious historical pictures and documentary materials, the film truly reproduces Chairman Mao's glorious life of unremitting struggle for the Chinese people. Visiting the Shaoshan Revolutionary Memorial and viewing the Mao Zedong Memorial Hall further strengthened our respect and remembrance for the Chairman.
