Shanghai CITYWALK: Exploring the Miniature Garden – Tinglin Ancient Pine Garden

The Ancient Pine Garden is located not far from Tinglin Old Street. It is rectangular in shape from north to south. Although small in size, the layout is rigorous and well-proportioned. The garden is surrounded by openwork walls, and a screen wall separates Fuxing Middle Road from the garden gate. On the wall are the seal characters "Ancient Pine Garden" in intaglio. Inside the garden gate is a small courtyard, which is used to block the view. A winding pool stream runs across the south of the garden, passing through the courtyard wall, and a small bridge is built over the water in the courtyard. The ancient pine is located in the south-central part of the garden. There is an ancient tree protection sign in front of the tree. Outside the canopy of the tree, a circle of bluestone railings has been built. The ancient pine has been tilted, so a rockery is piled up with lake stones on its side, which can not only fix the trunk, but also match the scenery of the ancient tree. Wangsong Pavilion was built in the western part of the garden center. In the northern part of the garden, there is a Songfeng Cottage. There are billiards and tea seats in the hall for tourists to move around and rest. To the east of the hall, there is a corridor along the wall leading directly to the garden gate courtyard, with a brick and wood structure and an area of 28 square meters. In addition to the ancient pine and a thick-shelled tree, the garden is planted with green bamboo and red plum trees.
