Once the hometown of the founder of Fudan University! Sijing Ancient Town is located on both sides of Sijing Pond in Sijing Town, Songjiang District, Shanghai, stretching from Jiangchuan Road in the west to Hushong Highway in the east. It is a national historical and cultural village, with 54 cultural heritage buildings still in existence, including 'Shi Liangcai's Former Residence' and 'Ma Xiangbo's Former Residence'. The town is characterized by the convergence of four waters, crisscrossing streets and alleys, and interlocking bridges, representing the traditional features of the water town residential architecture in the Songjiang area. The town's landmark buildings include the Fang'an Pagoda and the Fuyuan Jing Temple, as well as remnants of the riverbank docks and revetments from the Ming and Qing dynasties. The town's snacks are also famous, with the renowned Sijing Xiaolong buns, various cakes and pastries, and local Shanghainese restaurants that are quite good.
