China Securities Museum

China Securities Museum, located in China's first foreign merchant hotel, Richard's Hotel | Pujiang Hotel. ⚫ Pujiang Hotel, originally known as Richard's Hotel, was established in 1846 (Qing Dynasty, the 26th year of Daoguang), and is China's first Western merchant hotel. The hotel is located on the east side of Shanghai's famous landmark, the Waibaidu Bridge, with a land area of 4580 square meters and a total construction area of 16563 square meters. ⚫ China's first light bulb was lit here; China's earliest circus performance appeared; China's first telephone was connected here; the Western semi-sound open-air cinema made its debut here; China's earliest social dance was held here, on November 5, 1897, to celebrate the 60th birthday of Empress Dowager Cixi, a grand dance was held at Richard's Hotel; the first securities exchange in New China was established here, on December 19, 1990, the Shanghai Stock Exchange opened in the Pujiang Hotel. ⚫ On January 24, 2018, the Office of the Central Organization Committee approved the Shanghai Stock Exchange to hang the sign of the "China Securities Museum", responsible for collecting, sorting, and storing cultural relics reflecting the history of China's securities development and construction achievements, and organizing related exhibitions, exchanges, and educational activities.
