Jiangjiazhen, a town with unique charm, tells the story of the vicissitudes and changes of the Lion City

Jiangjiazhen is located in the southwest of Chun'an County, 39 kilometers away from the county seat. It is bordered by Jieshou Township to the east, Qiandao Lake to the southwest, and Langchuan Township to the west, and is one of the first batch of 13 'charming towns' in Hangzhou. Jiangjiazhen is surrounded by the lake on three sides and mountains on one side, with the town in the lake and the lake in the town, under the blue sky and white clouds, bowing to the rippling blue waves, it is a typical Jiangnan landscape town. It turns out that Jiangjiazhen is the birthplace of the Sui'an civilization and the land where the Xin'an culture continues. At the end of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Hong Shaodan, the Minister of the Army, retired to Jiangjia Kangtang. Zhu Xi, a famous Neo-Confucian scholar of the Song Dynasty, visited Jiangjiazhen many times for cultural lectures, and cultural relics such as Yingshan Academy and Baiqin Tower still exist. In 1959, due to the construction of the Xin'an River Reservoir, the ancient city of Sui'an - Lion City, sank to the bottom of the lake, which is the source of Jiangjiazhen's historical context. After the Lion City was submerged under the lake, the name of Sui'an County ceased to exist. Some residents moved far away, while others settled nearby. Lion City has become their lingering nostalgia. Jiangjiazhen is not large in area, with a permanent population of just over ten thousand.
