Pingwu Bao'en Temple is located in Pingwu County, Mianyang City, Sichuan Province. It was built by Wang Xi and his son Wang Jian, the local officials of the Longzhou Xuanfu Division during the Ming Dynasty, under the imperial edict. The temple was built in the fifth year of the Zhengtong era of the Ming Dynasty (1440) and completed in the fourth year of the Tianshun era of the Ming Dynasty (1460). It has a history of more than 560 years. Legend has it that it was originally built as a palace, but was later converted into a temple when the court found out, hence the nickname "miniature Forbidden City". The layout of Bao'en Temple is very similar to that of the Forbidden City in Beijing. It faces east and is very large, covering an area of 2.5 hectares and a building area of 3,518 square meters. The temple's architecture is exquisite, combining elements of architecture, sculpture, and painting. It is a combination of Confucianism, Buddhism, and folk culture. After many earthquakes, its main structure is still intact. It is one of the most complete ancient Ming Dynasty buildings in China and a national key cultural relics protection unit.
