Wat Phutthaisawan is a very important temple in the Ayutthaya period. It has been built for more than 600 years. According to history, Wat Phutthaisawan was built in the area where King Ramathibodi I (King U Thong) used to have a pavilion when he migrated to Ayutthaya before it was established. After 3 years of his accession to the throne, which was in 1896, he ordered the construction of this temple as a royal memorial. The total age up to the present (2561) is 665 years. The most outstanding thing in Wat Phutthaisawan is the "Phra Mahathat" or the white main prang. It has the architectural style of a Khmer castle, facing east. It is located on a plinth that supports two more pavilions on the north and south sides. There are two staircases leading up to it: one on the east and one on the west. Around the prang, there is a gallery, the outside is solid, inside there are pillars supporting the roof and eaves at intervals. There are golden Buddha images in Sukhothai art in rows beautifully. In addition to being a temple famous for its long and important history, Wat Phutthaisawan is also talked about in terms of being a temple with Buddha images and sacred amulets. Inside the ordination hall is the place where "Luang Pho Dam" is enshrined, a black stucco Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya attitude, in the early Ayutthaya art style. In the past, anyone who was sick would come to ask Luang Pho Dam to heal their illness and ask for a child, which would be granted. There is also a story that in the past, this temple was a place for soldiers to train in weapons and equipment before going to war, so it is a sacred place for immortality.
