This time I came to Auschwitz concentration camp, it was like returning to that era full of war and despair. Walking into Auschwitz, you’ll see the ironic slogan on the gate: “Arbeit macht frei” (Labor makes you free). Sadly, for the millions of people who were brought here, what awaited them was not freedom, but endless suffering. When a group of people were taken to Auschwitz by train, their fate had already been ruthlessly determined. After screening, young people who are able to work can be kept temporarily, but the old, weak and sick are sent directly to the so-called "bathhouse", that is, the gas chamber. Their clothes, hair, teeth and other items were all sorted and used. The visit to Auschwitz was heart-wrenching and it was hard to believe that such a tragedy had actually happened. However, it is precisely because of the cruelty of history that we should cherish peace and stay away from war and hatred. Auschwitz is a profound history lesson.
