On the peak of a steep rock.

In New York, there are many tall buildings that you can climb for a fee to get to the top and "see the world from a higher perspective". However, most of the rooftop observation decks have glass barriers. One major exception is the Top of the Rock observation deck at Rockefeller Center, where you can enjoy an unobstructed 360-degree view of Manhattan's skyscrapers. The observation deck is open for a long time, so you can go there before sunset and stay until after dark. The only trouble is that tripods are not allowed, so if you want to use a slow shutter speed, you have to place your camera flat on the stone platform, which limits your shooting position. It is recommended to arrive early to secure a good spot. When I went there last time, I started guarding the best spot before 4:30 pm and stayed until 9 pm to take night photos (I will post them next time). Even the security guard was surprised and said "OMG you're still here!!!"
