Huakhueng Temple, Nan

Wat Hua Khwang, Nan Province, is located on Maha Phrom Road, near Wat Chang Kham, Wat Phumin and the Museum. It is another important historical site of Nan Province. There is no evidence of when it was built, but it is assumed that it was built in the late Lanna period. During the 20th-22nd Buddhist century, inside the temple, there is a Buddha statue in the Mara-Vijaya posture. This is a local Lanna Buddhist art style, Nan craftsmanship, with exquisite craftsmanship. If you look at the picture, you will see that the Buddha statue is placed more to the left, not in the middle of the base like other temples. There is a story that because the principal Buddha images of Wat Hua Khwang and Wat Phumin face each other, the villagers of Wat Hua Khwang and Wat Phumin often quarrel. No matter what they do, they cannot unite the two villages. So the villagers of Wat Hua Khwang moved the principal Buddha image to the left so that the Buddha images do not face each other.
