Ryuo Shrine in Kyoto, Japan [Takio Shrine]

A 2-minute walk from Kintetsu Tofukuji Station, you can see an ancient shrine full of lanterns, the Takio Shrine. What’s special is that the origin and creation of this shrine are unknown. Its history is so long that it is only recorded from the early Edo period. After the shrine building was renovated at the order of the shogunate, it was renamed Takio Shrine. The current shrine space is not very large, but it can be seen that the original wooden buildings were intricately carved and magnificent. They enshrined the dragon god who is in charge of rain in Kyoto. The buildings in the courtyard have been designated as Kyoto City's designated tangible cultural assets and are currently under construction.
