[Kyoto Prefecture] A shrine connected to Daimaru and the dragon head

Takio Shrine ⛩️ 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃 A shrine famous for its magnificent dragon head ⛩️ The ceiling of the worship hall has a dragon sculpture that is 8 meters long. This year is the Year of the Dragon, so I visited Takio Shrine in Higashiyama Ward. As expected, this year is the year of the zodiac, so there was a line. The blessing is said to be improving luck at work. The shrine itself is not very large and compact, but the dragon sculpture in the worship hall was dynamic and wonderful. It was made by Shintaro Kuzan, a sculptor from the late Edo period. The dragon was so powerful that rumors spread that "it goes to the river every night to drink water. It's so scary that you can't sleep," so a wire mesh was put up to trap the dragon. The founder of Daimaru, Shimomura Hikoemon Masahiro, worshipped at Takio Shrine and made a huge donation out of gratitude for the prosperity of the Daimaru department store thanks to his faithful visits every morning. During the Gion Festival, the dragon head sculpture was removed and displayed in the show window of the Daimaru department store.
